It seems that anotherStar Warscharacter could be coming to the end of their time in the franchise. A new rumor has suggested thatAhsokaSeason 2 may serve as the conclusion to the character’s journey within theStar Warsuniverse. According to insiderDaniel Richtman,Lucasfilm is reportedly preparing forAhsokato end with the second season. While the “MandalorianEra” ofStar Warsis set to conclude in the next several years, it appears thatRosario Dawson’s character could be bowing out before Dave Filoni’s narrative-concluding movie arrives.
The first season ofAhsokaended with the promise of more stories to be told. The show’s cliffhanger ending, which saw Grand Admiral Thrawn making a return to the galaxy while Ahsoka and Sabine Wren were left stranded on the distant world of Peridea, certainly left fans wanting more. However, it has proven that even a cliffhanger ending isn’t always a guarantee of more seasons being greenlit – as the surprise cancelation ofThe Acolyteshowed.Thankfully for fans,AhsokaSeason 2 was announced in January 2024.

Ahsoka Tano has become a beloved character in the franchise, having been introduced inThe Clone Warsin 2008 as the Padawan of Anakin Skywalker, and her story has come full circle in her recent live-action appearance as she was reunited with Anakin in Force Ghost form.Having appeared in bothThe MandalorianandThe Book of Boba Fett,Ahsoka’s presence in the franchise has been a constant, making it more surprising that Lucasfilm would be looking to end her story.IfAhsokaSeason 2 is the last of the character’s standalone adventures, it doesn’t mean that the character won’t make an appearance elsewhere.
Does ‘Ahsoka’ Still Have a Place in ‘Star Wars’?
The world ofStar Warsis changing. Having spent several years concentrating on Disney+ series, the focus ofLucasfilm is now turning to cinema dominance. This could be one reason whyAhsokaSeason 2 could be the last in the series, and Ahsoka’s journey could come to an end. Of course, with at least twoMandalorianmovies to come, Dawson may also reprise the role in one of them.
It has never been easy predicting where theStar Warsfranchise will go next, mainly because Lucasfilm don’t even seem to know where they want the franchise to go next. In the years sinceThe Rise of Skywalkerhit cinemas, there have been more than a dozenStar Warsmovies either announced or rumored, but none have actually coming to fruition as plans have changed.
