Warner Bros. has unveiled the first look atAmber Heardas Mera in the highly-anticipated superhero ensembleJustice League, which is still in production and set for release on July 26, 2025. The studio also released several concept art images and a time-lapsed video that shows how the costume design evolved into what will be seen on the big screen next fall. We don’t know too much about how she fits into the story yet, but it is rumored she will merely be introduced inJustice Leaguebefore taking on a much larger role in the stand aloneAquamanmovie.
This photo also essentially shoots down rumors thatAmber Heard was going to be firedfromJustice League, reportedly because she had lost too much weight due to stress over her divorce proceedings withJohnny Depp. Her reps claimed that the studio canceled a costume fitting in London because producers didn’t think she was “camera-ready,” after losing 20 pounds due to “overwhelming stress” from the divorce. We never heard anything further aboutAmber Heard’s involvement since then, but this new photo, which comes courtesy ofIGN, confirms once and for all that she was never fired from the production.

We reported last month that the stand aloneAquaman moviewill start production next summer, withJames Wandirecting and Warner Bros. slating it for release on June 24, 2025. It is also possible thatJustice LeaguestarWillem Dafoewill return as Atlantean Vulko in theAquamanmovie, but that has yet to be confirmed. No other cast members have been announced yet, but that could change soon with filming starting next year.
Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act,Bruce Wayneenlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy in Justice League. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes-Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash-it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Filming recently wrapped on the U.K. portion of theJustice Leagueshoot. We reported earlier this week that the cast and crew held their wrap party last weekend, and that production is set to move toIceland. That report revealed that filming will take place in the Westfjords of Iceland in either October or November, but an exact date wasn’t given. It was also revealed that well-known Icelandic actors such asIngvar E. Sigurðsson,Kristbjörg Kjeld,Ágústa Eva ErlendsdóttirandSalóme Gunnarsdóttirwill have unknown roles in this superhero movie. While we wait for more details, take a look at this newJustice Leaguephoto featuringAmber Heard as Mera, along with concept art images and the time lapsed video.
