In case you missed the second trailer for Lionsgate’sAmerican Ultrathat debuted earlier this month, the studio has released a third trailer, chocked full of action. Before he takes on the villainous role ofLex LuthorinBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,Jesse Eisenbergportrays Mike Howell, a convenience store employee who is in for quite a rude awakening. After he becomes “activated,” without even knowing it himself, Mike’s incredible skills are put to the test.
American Ultrais a fast-paced action comedy about Mike (Jesse Eisenberg), a seemingly hapless and unmotivated stoner whose small-town life with his live-in girlfriend, Phoebe (Kristen Stewart), is suddenly turned upside down. Unbeknownst to him, Mike is actually a highly trained, lethal sleeper agent. In the blink of an eye, as his secret past comes back to haunt him, Mike is thrust into the middle of a deadly government operation and is forced to summon his inner action-hero in order to survive.
Walton Goggins,Topher Grace,Connie Britton,John Leguizamo,Bill Pullman,Tony Haleand Monique Ganderton round out the supporting cast in thisaction comedyfrom Lionsgate. While the movie itself didn’t have an official presence atComic-Conearlier this month, they did hand outfree weedto anyone with a medical marijuana card from the state of California, along withnew posters. We’ll have to wait a few weeks to see if this free weed promotion will get enough fans excited for the movie.
When it hits theaters on August 21,American Ultrawill go up againstSinister 2andHitman: Agent 47in wide release next month.
