Anthony Mackieis pulling no punches about finally getting a standalone movie in the MCU, and Spider-Man actor Tom Holland has found himself in the firing line.Mackie first portrayed Sam Wilson/Falcon a decade ago inCaptain America: The Winter Soldier, and has reprised the role numerous times in the MCU. After a moderately successful outing on Disney+ (alongside Sebastian Stan’s Winter Soldier in the aptly titled TheFalcon & the Winter Soldier), Wilson will finally be the central character in a Marvel film whenCaptain America: Brave New Worldreleases next year.
To give Mackie’s recent comments some much-needed context, atAce Comic Con Seattle 2018,Tom Holland took a jovial jab at Mackie’s character frequently being a supporting character in the franchise. After Mackie joked that he had never watchedSpider-Man: Homecoming, Holland memorably responded, “I haven’t seen the Falcon mov- Oh, wait. There isn’t one.”

Captain America: Brave New World
Captain America: Brave New World (formerly titledNew World Order)marks Sam Wilson’s first MCU big-screen appearance as Steve Rogers' successor after receiving the suit and shield in Phase 4’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Anthony Mackie returns as the titular Avenger alongside Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres, Carl Lumby as Isaiah Bradley, and Tim Blake Nelson as The Incredible Hulk’s former ally Samuel Sterns. Harrison Ford makes his MCU debut replacing the late William Hurt as Thaddeus Ross.
It’s taken six years, but Anthony Mackie can finally fire back at Holland’s insult. Which he now has. With gusto. At Marvel’s Hall H pannel atSan Diego Comic Con(viaScreen Rant), Mackie took a moment during theCaptain America: Brave New Worldpresentation to call out Tom Holland. After being asked about Holland’s joke, Mackie jokingly responded:

“He said I didn’t have a movie. I said, ‘well you’re not 5'11”.’ I got a movie, but he ain’t gonna be 5'11"! Yes Tom Holland, f*ck you!"
Tom Holland Is Anthony Mackie’s Date for Captain America: Brave New World
Anthony Mackie clearly lost himself in the joy of insulting his former co-star in the continuing (friendly) feud, and would later offer an olive branch. During a conversation withIGNfollowing Marvel’s Hall H show, Mackie revealed that he’s taking Tom Holland as his date to the premiere ofCaptain America: Brave New World. Mackie said:
“I’m excited for Tom Holland to see my movie. He’s my date to the premiere. Zendaya, whatever you need to do, come with your friend or something, but he’s coming with me.”

Captain America: Brave New Worldwill see Mackie’s Sam Wilsonfinally don the role of Captain Americain a standalone movie. Wilson was gifted the mantel duringFalcon & The Winter Soldier, but was reluctant to accept it out of fear he couldn’t live up to Steve Roger’s (Chris Evans) legacy. Now Wilson is stepping into the suit and equipping the shield as he takes on the Serpent Society - who look much scarier than they sound.

While the rest of the cast’s characters have already been revealed, Esposito’s character has remained a closely guarded secret.
