Netflix original showArcane, based on the popular online gameLeague of Legends, tells the origin story of the characters, especially that of sisters Violet (Vi) and Powder (Jinx). Recently, production of the second season has been announced and after the heartbreaking ending of season one, fans are on edge to find out more about what is in store for the next installment of the series. Regarded as a quality adaptation,Arcanehas received good ratings and rave reviews from players and non-players alikewho enjoy theLOLuniverse and lore. The show is set in the city of Piltover, renowned for its innovative Hextech, which allows them to replicate magic through scientific means. But the so-called “City of Progress” is not the utopia that it seems, with the Undercity wrought with poverty, illness, hunger, subject to the will of crime lords, and stricken with addiction to a substance called shimmer. The season one finale saw the division within the city and also between the sisters, finally reach a breaking point. With that being said, let’s take a look at everything we know so farabout season two.
Arcane Season 2: The Plot
Although we don’t have any confirmed announcements about the plot for season two, we can certainly speculate on what is to comebased on the season finale. After killing Silco to save her sister, Jinx comes to a pivotal acceptance of who she is and realizes that no matter what she or her sister does, their relationship can never go back to what it used to be. Vi would never be able to love who she is now because she will always see her as Powder, the fragile little sister who needs protection. With this moment of clarity, Jinx decides to use the gemstone with her weapon and launch a rocket at the Piltover Capitol building. Little does she know that as she does this, the council has just come to a unanimous decision to allow the Undercity to become an independent nation, the city of Zaun.
Likely for season two, we will see all hell break loose as the attack will bring devastation to the city of Piltover. With their leaders wounded and dead, Piltover will be left vulnerable to further attacks from the nation of Zaun. And if some of the council members did survive the rocket blast, it is unlikely they will honor their decision to resolve this dispute peacefully now. The scales have been tipped in favor of war and although Piltover was caught off guard, the Undercity is also left without a leader to unite them.

This leaves us to wonder who will take over as the leader of the Undercity? Although Jinx filled the role of Silco’s adopted daughter, it is doubtful that any of Silco’s former underlings and allies will follow her given that many of them thought her a nuisance, unstable, and unreliable. But of course, she started this war, so she will certainly play a role in seeing it through.
Instead, perhaps Vi will step up. Being Vander’s adopted daughter earns Vi some level of respect and authority in the Undercity, and with her connections to Piltover’s elite, she might be able to unite the citizens of Zaun towards a peaceful cause and put a stop to the impending war.

We also wonder what will become of the Firelights. Will Ekko rise up to help broker peace between Piltover and Zaun, or will they support the war? And of course, what will become of Jinx and Vi? Will the two ever be able to repair their relationship or is it damaged beyond repair? Is Jinx too far gone for Vi to reach?
Another relationship that we will likely see develop and perhaps be tested will be that between Vi and Caitlyn. Although Caitlyn is connected to Piltover’s elite, her mother was a member of the council that was targeted by the rocket. We don’t yet know if her mother is alive or dead, but regardless, Caitlyn will suffer personally from this attack. Despite advocating for justice on behalf of the Zaunites who have been wronged, she may now seek her own justice and retribution which might cause a strain on her relationship with Vi if she continues to protect Jinx.

Arcane Season 2: The Cast
We will see a return of the main cast with Vi (Hailee Steinfeld), Jinx (Ella Purnell), and Caitlyn (Katie Leung). We will also see secondary characters Ekko (Reed Lorenzo Shannon), Heimerdinger (Mick Wingert), and Sevika (Amirah Vann). While we currently don’t know the status of characters such as Jayce (Kevin Alejandro), Viktor (Harry Lloyd), Mel (Toks Olagundoye), and the other council members, it is possible we could see them reappear in the second season if any of them survived the blast or in flashbacks prior to the event of the rocket launch.
