This new take on the story is fully based onLew Wallace’s timeless novel,Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ. Also starringMorgan FreemanandRodrigo SantoroasJesus, we have an all-new look at this remake of the classic tale. Paramount has unleashed the second official trailer, which brings us plenty of new footage. We also get a special preview that goes behind-the-scenes of the iconic chariot race as it is recreated for a new generation of movie fans.
Production began on MGM’sBen-Hurremake in Rome more than a year ago, although this is one production that has been quite guarded before the first trailer dropped earlier this year. The story is adapted closer to the novel, which tells the tale of Jesus in parallel with the main story that wasn’t included in the original classic from the 1959. Director Timur Bekmambetov claims that the newChariot racescenes are the “crown jewel” of this remake.
Jack Hustonspent two and a half months rehearsing this sequence and filming it in Italy. At one point, they each had 32 horses running at the same time. We get to see the action come together in this latest sneak peek. The supporting cast includes Sofia Black-D’Elia, Ayelet Zurer, Moises Arias and Pilou Asbæk. And we get to hear from some of them as well.
Ben-Hurwill be going up against another highly-anticipated remake, Disney’s Pete’s Dragon, along with Sony’s R-rated animated comedy Sausage Party and Universal’s action-thriller Spectral.Ben-Hurcould arrive as one of the last true hits of summer. Biblical movies and faith inspired dramas have continued to pull in stellar box office all through out 2016. We’ll have to wait and see how audiences respond to theBen-Hur remakewith more of a Jesus presence being felt over the entire story.
