Not only is Danny’s father in the police force, but so are most of his family members, drawing a thin line between his home and work family.

InBoston Blue, Danny Reagan accepts a position in the Boston Police Department (BPD). Upon arrival, Danny joins new partners in the BPD, who he learns also have long-term law enforcement ties. No longer in the advantageous position he was induring his New York reign, where who you know is just as vital as what you know, Danny must find his footing and adapt to his new city and departmental surroundings.

Sonequa Martin-Green(The Walking Dead, Star Trek: Discovery) will playLena SilverinBoston Blue. Lena is Danny’s newly assigned partner in the BPD, whose impressive early track record suggests she is a “rising star” (viaVariety). Just as Danny did in New York, Lena is the eldest child in a family with several law enforcement contacts in the city and the community, which gives her an advantage over the unfamiliar Danny.

Tom Selleck’s Blue Bloods May Not Be Over Yet as Paramount Boss Hints at a Spinoff

Paramount Global co-CEO Brian Robbins hinted at Blue Bloods spinoff amid the looming series finale.

Deadlinedescribes Mae Silver as “The widow of a judge who was murdered on the courthouse steps, Mae endeavors to put family ahead of work whenever possible.” Similar to the surname Peters being changed to Silver for most characters, the youngest child in the family, Isaac, has been changed to Jonah. Jonah will serve as a rookie police officer with the Boston Police Department.

Reverend Peters is a well-respected pastor in a storied Baptist Church in Boston, where he serves as a major force in the religious community. Reverend Peters is also the patriarch of a mixed family and is the father of Mae Silver and the grandfather of Lena, Sarah, and Jonah Silver.

Deadlinedescribes Reverend Petersas “An open-minded, welcoming man that is comfortable in all traditions, he is happy to preside at his church’s traditional Sunday Baptist service.” Interestingly, Hudson appeared as Principal Daryll Ward in a 2018Blue Bloodsepisode and will now play a different character inBoston Blue.

Other Potential Returning Characters

As of now, Danny Reagan is the onlyBlue Bloodscharacter set to return toBoston Blue. Tom Selleck, who played NYC Police Commissioner and Danny’s father, Frank Reagan, isnot expected to appear in the spinoff. However,Selleck did say that he was “open to suggestionsbecause I love Frank Reagan,” but couldn’t envision seeing the character moving to a smaller precinct.

Meanwhile,speculation continues to swirl regarding Marisa Ramirez’s return as Detective Maria Baez. Danny and Maria formed a potential romance at the end ofBlue Bloods, prompting many to believe Maria would follow Danny to Boston and begin life anew with him in the spinoff. Although Ramirez is not confirmed to appear inBoston Blue, Maria may end up seeing Danny again at some point.
