Snow Whitehas a long way to whistle while it works financially, at least, if the latest movie from the Mouse House plans on breaking even during its theatrical run. However, despite the controversy that could have acted like the infamous poison apple which utterly killed Disney’s latest live-action reimagining at thebox office, theRachel Zeglerand Gal Gadot-led film has still done the theater industry a tremendous favor by leading the highest-grossing weekend domestically since late February. Director Marc Webb’sSnow Whiteeasily landed the No. 1 slot over the weekend with an estimated $43 million because no other film in the Top 5 managed to make more than $4.4 million (Black Bag) on its own.
Snow Whitealso managed to pick up another $44.3 million overseas for a worldwide total of $87.3 million. Unfortunately, ascending to the top spot is hardly a victory for the live-action Disney flick given its massive $240 million to $260 million production budget. However, the theater business was in desperate need of increasing its economic activity after three straight weeks of failing to garner even $55 million for each of those respective box office weekends. Check out the dismal numbers over the last five weeks below, none of which could crack the $100 million mark (below):

Despite Poor Reviews, ‘Snow White’ Improves on the Original’s Ending
Here are the changes Disney made to the ending of ‘Snow White’ and how it improved the story.
Box Office Weekend Totals From Feb. 21-Mar. 23 (Domestic)
Snow Whitewasn’t received well by the critics, which led to the film only registering 44% on the Tomatometer against 180 reviews posted to Rotten Tomatoes. Fortunately, though, the fans who actually ventured out to cinemas and watched Zegler’s titular character face off against the Evil Queen (Gadot) enjoyed Disney’s latest big-screen venture. Webb’s movie currently holds a Popcornmeter rating of 74%, formerly the RT audience score, and even more impressive was the fact thatSnow Whitelanded a “B+” CinemaScore, despite all the controversy.
‘Snow White’ Barely Cracks Top 10 for Disney Live-Action Opening Weekends
Snow White’srevised box office forecastturned out to be a tough reality for the Mouse House to face, but Disney can celebrate the fact that the studio released the two films with the best opening weekend numbers in 2025.Captain America: Brave New Worlddebuted with $88.8 million (three-day) andSnow White’s$43 million ranks No. 2. Sadly, though,Snow Whitejust barely cracks its own studio’s Top 10 for live-action reboots. Check out the rankings below:
Top 10 Opening Weekends for Disney Live-Action Reimaginings (Domestic)
Meanwhile,Black Bagchecked in at No. 2 over the weekend with $4.4 million.Brave New Worldlanded at No. 3 with 4.1 million, and the MCU entry finally crossed the $400 million mark at the global box office over the weekend, too. The Robert Pattinson-ledMickey 17secured the No. 4 spot with $3.9 million, and Jack Quaid’s action comedyNovocainerounded out the Top 5 with $3.8 million.
Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega’s team-up,Death of a Unicorn— the latest horror flick from Blumhouse and Universal —The Woman in the Yard, and the Jason Statham-ledA Working Manall jointhe 2025 box officenext on Mar. 28. All three films are forecast to make at least $10 million to $15 million domestically over their opening weekends, according to Boxoffice Pro.

Jason Statham’s big-screen return could possibly even reach $20 million during the film’s opening weekend. These new movies, combined withSnow Whiteand a smattering of other titles, including Bill Murray and Naomi Watts’The FriendandThe Penguin Lessons, might not be enough to eclipse the $100 million mark, but they should close out the month respectably together and far above the $50 million weekends which plagued most of March.
