Chris Prattand the rest of hisGuardians of the Galaxyco-stars are ready to roll out one more time as a team before many of the characters depart the franchise. In line with comments made by other stars of the Marvel franchise and writer-director James Gunn, Pratt has revealed thatGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3will be the most emotional of the Guardians movies.

Speaking toComicbook.com, Pratt broke down some of the reasons why this movie is so special to all of those involved and how he still finds it hard to believe how far they have come. He said:

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

“It was really emotional. It was really emotional for so many reasons that it would take too long in this interview to even get into. But it just was emotional. It was a lot of gratitude around the fact that James Gunn actually directed it and was able to do that. Just grateful that he even gave me the job to begin with. It felt gratifying, knowing that critics had said that it would likely be the first Marvel movie to bomb. And what was that gonna be like, to be the first Marvel movie to not be successful? To take these characters that no one knew, and now have them be household names, and to be part of that, and to have rides around the world.”

Chris Pratt Says Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 is Like Leaving School

While there are still no exact details about how the story will end for many of the Guardians. Although there has been no secret made about thedeparture of Dave Bautista’s Draxand James Gunn is off to take the helm of the DCU, Pratt said that this movie is something like everyone leaving school and heading their separate ways.

“It’s been an incredible ten years. So to wrap it up in this way, it’s, it’s a little bit like your last day of school when you’re a senior. You’re so excited that it’s over, but at the same time, you don’t know if you’re going to see any of your friends ever again. Some of them are going off to college, and some of them are leaving, and some are going in the Army. It’s like entering a new phase, and a new chapter of your life. It’s the turning of a page. So it’s exciting, but it’s emotional.”

It will be interesting to see just how wellGuardians of the Galaxy Vol.3fares at the box office this May. Thebox office is still struggling to hit the highs of the pre-pandemic erafor many reasons, including a lack of interest from the lucrative Chinese market and the quick turn around many movies now have to a home release. As a Marvel sequel that doesn’t have a huge connection to the Multiverse Saga,Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3will essentially live or die on its own merits.
