Season two ofDon Mancini’sChuckyseries continues the demonic doll’s reign of terror on the small screen this Halloween, and this time he isn’t alone. As well as the titular murderous child’s toy, season two will see him being joined by Tiffany andSeed of Chucky’sGlen and Glenda, Chucky’s offspring that Mancini says he was previously banned from using. TheChild’s Playfranchise has had ups and downs, andSeed of Chuckywas a low point as far as box office results went, which the creator said was the reason it has taken so long to see the controversial son/daughter of Chucky again. Mancini toldComicBook.com:

“Initially Seed of Chucky, when it came out in 2004, didn’t do well, and so for a while in the franchise, when we did Curse of Chucky and Cult of Chucky, even though I wanted to allude to those characters, I was forbidden from doing so by the people we were working with at the time. I’m not trying to villainize them at all. They were awesome, very supportive on the making of those movies. But I think their thinking was, ‘Okay, people didn’t like Seed of Chucky, so we want to stay away from anything that reminds them of that.’ I mean, that’s not the way I felt. I think that was their reasoning.

Fortunately the world has evolved to a point that it is more welcoming to this kind of material. So I knew that on top of that, having eight hours of story at our disposal to tell was the perfect opportunity to start going down these different avenues and exploring these characters from the franchise’s past that people have been wondering about over the years. And so here we are doing it now.”

Glen and Glenda Return In Chucky Season 2

The history of theChuckyfranchise has introduced some controversial characters and plotlines, andSeed Of Chuckypushed the envelope to its extreme with Glen/Glenda, the spawn of Chucky, Glen, who was repulsed by the actions of his murderous parents, but who also shared a body with twin sister Glenda, whom it turned out was much more open to picking up the family trade.

In the franchise, Glen and Glenda would end up being born in human form to Jenifer Tilly, and inthe new season ofChucky, the now grown up pair are both played by nonbinary actor Lachlan Watson, who previously starred in Netflix’sThe Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. What kind of havoc will ensue now Glen and Glenda have returned home is currently unknown, but with so many characters now in the mix, things are certainly not going to get dull anytime soon.

The first season ofChuckywas a big enough hit for a second season to be almost instantly put into production. If season two can continue to bring in high audience numbers for its duration, then there is no reason why Chucky has to be put back in his box just yet. The new season debuts new episodes on Wednesdays on SYFY and USA Network.
