Shortly after 20th Century Fox released their surprise blockbusterKingsman: The Secret Service, talk of a sequel started to surface. DirectorMatthew Vaughnteased last spring that he had some ideas for the sequel, even hinting thatColin Firth’s characterHarry Hartmay return inKingsman: The Golden Circle, despite being seemingly killed off at the end of the first movie. Back in April, a new poster teased the return of Harry Hart, but we haven’t gotten a glimpse at the actor since production began. Thankfully,Pedro Pascalhas offered our first look atColin Firthfrom the set.
Over the weekend,Pedro Pascalshared a photo onInstagram, which features the actor hiding behindColin Firth, with the caption “Hide behind Harry.” Unfortunately, the photo doesn’t come with any details about how thisKingsmanagent was brought back to life, but the poster from this spring featured the famousMark Twainquote “Reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated.” It still isn’t known how large or small a roleColin Firth’s Harry Hart may have in this sequel, so we’ll have to wait and see.
As forPedro Pascal, we reported in April that he has joined the cast asJack Daniels, who may be a character referenced in a previous report. The story reportedly centers on Eggsy (Taron Egerton) and Merlin (Mark Strong) visiting the U.S., where they meetHalle Berry’s character and a “swaggering, sharpshooting cowboy” called Jack, who is believed to bePedro Pascal’s character. That report also revealed the U.S. version of Kingsman is an organization known as the Statesmen, while we saw concept art ofJulianne Moore’s villainous lair, known as Poppyland.
DirectorMatthew Vaughnpreviously teased that the sequel will involve a skiing sequence, a barroom brawl, robot dogs, one-armed henchmen and a sequence where the protagonists have to fend off “a massive f***ing frankfurter.” No official plot details have been released yet, but the cast also includesChanning Tatum, SirElton John,Jeff BridgesandVinnie Jones. Another report also revealed thatKingsman: The Secret ServicestarEdward Holcroftis coming back for the sequel, despite his character Charlie Hesketh also being killed in the first movie.
Matthew Vaughnis directing from a script he co-wrote withJane Goldman, who he has worked with onStardust,Kick-Ass,X-Men: First ClassandKingsman: The Secret Service. Production started back in May, with 20th Century Fox setting a July 19, 2025 release date. The sequel will be going up against another highly-anticipated sequel, Disney-Pixar’sCars 3.
