WillDaniel Radcliffeever return asHarry Potter? Possibly, somewhere down the road.Harry Potteris without question one of the most popular franchises of all time, and not just the movies either. The book series that spawned the movies are intensely popular and there is even a stage play,Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, that is one the hottest tickets on the market right now. No matter what otherHarry Pottermovies, books, plays or anything ever get made though,Daniel Radcliffeis always going to be the face of the franchise.
Radcliffemoved on from thewizarding worldafterThe Deathly Hallows Part 2, which makes sense. ButJ.K. Rowlingis continuing to make newHarry Potterstuff, and there is probably going to be a point in the future that might call forRadcliffeto return to the role ofPotter. In a recent interview withRadio Times,Radcliffeactually gave fans hope that he would be open to the idea in the future, just not right now. Here is what he had to say.
“It would depend on the script. The circumstances would have to be pretty extraordinary. But then I am sure Harrison Ford said that with Han Solo and look what happened there! So I am saying, ‘No,’ for now but leaving room to backtrack in the future.”
As of right now, there doesn’t even seem to be an opportunity forRadcliffeto reprise his veryiconic role, but this statement is likely very nice for die hard fans to hear. The Cursed Childis a continuation of the mainHarry Potterstory, but none of the actors from the movies are reprising their roles for the show. Beyond that,Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Themtakes place in America long before theHarry PotterseriesRadcliffetook part in.
Many actors who play a role that they are so associated with, likeRadcliffewithHarry Potter, do everything they can to try and distance themselves from it.Radcliffehas had agreat careeroutside of that movie series, but he has always seemed to embrace the fans and the fact that the role helped get him to where he is today. It is also interesting that he makes the comparison between his situation andHarrison Fordwith Han Solo.Fordseemed like he was very much over the role for a very long time, but the right set of circumstances led to him reprising the role, and the same thing could happen forHarry Potterin the eventual future.
J.K. Rowlingis not at all done with the world ofHarry Potter. She wrote the script for bothHarry Potter and the Cursed ChildandFantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. She is the gatekeeper to that world, and there is no doubt that if she keeps going, at some point an opportunity will present itself forRadcliffeto appear in another movie.Radcliffeis currently starring inSwiss Army ManalongsidePaul DanoandFantastic Beast and Where to Find Themis set for a November 18 release date.
