Now, the news ofMy Adventures with Green Lanternsmight imply that a separate interconnected DC animated universe could be on the table. The series titular Green Lantern, Jessica Cruz, is a relatively new character to DC Comics. She was first teased in “Green Lantern” #20 in 2013 before making her first proper appearance in “Justice League” #31 in August 2014 as the first female Green Lantern. The character became a fan-favorite quickly and has been adapted into several animated DC titles, includingDC Super Hero Girls,Justice League vs. The Fatal Five, andDC League of Super-Pets. She was also set to beone of the lead characters in HBO’sGreen Lantern Corp.series before it was scrapped in favor ofLanterns.
DC and Warner Bros. seem to be very invested in getting audiences to associate the moniker of Green Lantern as being wielded among various heroes, including Jessica Cruz, John Stewart, Hal Jordan, and Guy Gardner. This opens the door for Jessica Cruz to one day appear in the DCU and for various other Green Lanterns to get the spotlight in live-action and animated film and television projects. Names like Alan Scott, Simon Baz, and Sojourner “Jo” Mullein might all get their moments to shine as the Green Lantern, either inMy Adventures with Green Lanternor the DCU.
