Deadpool3 starRyan Reynoldsand directorShawn Levyare reteaming for the upcomingBoy Band. This will mark the fourth collaboration between the two, followingFree Guy,The Adam Project, and Marvel’s highly anticipatedDeadpool 3. The two are also attached to a fifth project, an as yet unnamed heist comedy. While details surroundingBoy Bandare scarce, we do know that Reynolds will star and produce, Levy will direct, and Jesse Andrews (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl)co-scribed the film’s script alongside Reynolds.
Boy Bandwas announced in February 2023, but the extent of Levy’s participation was unknown at the time. Confirmation of Levy at the helm comes as Paramount Pictures renews its first-look development deal with Ryan Reynolds' Maximum Effort Productions through December 2026. Multiple features have been confirmed through the deal’s announcement:Boy Band;Starter Villain,which is set to be adapted for the screen by Andrews;Eloise, based on the book series of the same name; andGaslight Express, which will reunite Reynolds withDeadpoolwriters Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese.
Maximum Efforts Productions, launched in 2018 by Reynolds and George Dewey, has a long list of credits including features such asDeadpool 2andDeadpool 3,Reynolds' projects with Levy,and the acclaimed sports documentary seriesWelcome to Wrexham.
Shawn Levy and Ryan Reynolds Upcoming Projects
Late last year, we learned thatReynolds and Levy would rejoin forces for a heist comedythat landed on Netflix following an eight-company bidding war. The film is described as an “ensemble in the spirit of anOceans Eleven” with an international setting.
During an interview withPEOPLE, Levy shared that another Deadpool 3 star predicted the strong connection between him and Reynolds: Hugh Jackman.
“It’s all thanks to Hugh. He predicted this 11 years ago. I vividly remember him saying, ‘I’m friends with this guy Ryan Reynolds, and if you ever meet, you guys are going to never stop working together again,” Levy said.
Levy and Reynold’s first project, the action comedyFree Guy,premiered in 2021. Levy, who has worked alongside Jackman inReal Steel, Free Guy(where Jackman voices an avatar),Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb,andDeadpool 3says that working with the two actors has"been an absolute blast."
Ryan Reynolds Shares New Image From Behind the Scenes of Deadpool 3
Ryan Reynolds has shared a new image from Deadpool 3 following his reveal of a new shot of his Deadpool suit.
Deadpool 3lands in theaters on July 26. Along with Reynolds and Jackman, it features Morena Baccarin, Jennifer Garner, Emma Corrin, and Matthew Macfadyen.
Before we see Reynolds back inDeadpool’stactical suitthis summer, however, he will appear inIFalongside John Krasinski (who has also scribed, directed, and co-produced the film), Cailey Fleming, Fiona Shaw, Alan Kim, and Liza Colón-Zayas. IF premieres July 27, 2025. Up next, Levy will work on the fifth and final season ofStranger ThingsandStarman, an upcoming film about an alien that goes to Earth and takes on the body of a widow’s husband.

A follow-up to the highly successful Deadpool and Deadpool 2 films starring Ryan Reynolds as the Merc with a Mouth. The third film will be the first in the franchise to be developed under the Marvel Studios banner following Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox.
