Buried withinThe Hollywood Reporter’s storyfrom earlier today, which revealedthatGina Caranois playing Angel Dust inDeadpool, was an intriguing tidbit thatX-Mencharacter Colossus is also slated to appear in the movie. Unfortunately, no further details were given as to how he fits into the plot, buta report from October revealedthatDeadpoolis a part of theX-Menfranchise, so it would make sense that characters such as Colossus will be present.
Daniel Cudmoreplayed Colossus inX2: X-Men United,X-Men: The Last Standand last year’sX-Men: Days of Future Past, but it wasn’t said if the actor is reprising his role, or if another actor will take over for this project. What’s also interesting is that Colossus wasn’t featured inX-Men Origins: Wolverine, which served as the first appearance ofRyan Reynolds’Deadpool, a.k.a. The Merc With the Mouth.
The Colossus character, who was born Piotr Nikolaievitch Rasputin, was created by writerLen Weinand illustratorDavid Cockrum, making his first appearance inGiant Size X-Men#1 in 1975. In the comics, he is easily the strongest X-Men, who has the ability to transform himself into a metallic form. There was aBleeding Coolreport from way back in 2010 that revealed Colossus makes an appearance, and that it’s not just a cameo. The character is reportedly in “more than one scene, and has got some stuff to do,” according to the site’s source.
Of course, that report was never confirmed, and it isn’t known how much the script has changed in the five years since that report surfaced.Daniel Cudmorealso responded to the story through his ownTwitterpage, although he wouldn’t comment on if he is coming back or not. Are you excited to see what Colossus will do inDeadpool? Do you thinkDaniel Cudmoreshould come back, or would you like to see a different actor portray this character?
