In the months following April’s Season 6 finale ofThe Walking Dead, fans have gotten no closer to learning who was killed by the nefariousNegan. That mystery certainly won’t be solved until the Season 7 premiere on AMC this October, but that isn’t stopping fans from speculating. The latest theory centers on a few social media photos posted by a beloved cast member ofThe Walking Dead, who doesn’t seem to be in Atlanta while production continues.
Ever since production started this summer, there have been a number of theories that have sprouted up as to who Negan’s victim was. Some think it may be the same character who is killed in the comics, Glenn Rhee (Steven Yeun), especially after it was revealed that the actor was shooting the new thrillerOkjaat the same timeThe Walking Deadwas in production. Others think it may beJosh McDermitt’s Eugene Porter, who was recently announced as part of the massive cast for Showtime’sTwin Peaks. Another theory has recently emerged which claims thatLauren Cohan’s Maggie is in fact Negan’s victim.
Over the past month,Lauren Cohanhas posted a number of photos onInstagram, none of which seem to be taken in the Atlanta area. One photo taken a month ago featured the actress at an undisclosed beach, while another features a lightning strike during a power outage, which was taken somewhere near the ocean. Earlier today, the actress also shared another photo which revealed she sawThe Color Purpleon Broadway at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre. Since production onThe Walking Deadis still happening, could these photos indicate thatLauren Cohan’sMaggieis in fact dead? We don’t know for sure, but there has been other evidence that she could be the victim.
Last month, a report surfaced from theWalking Deadset that claimedSteven Yeunhasn’t been on set for the filming of Season 7’s second and third episodes, whileLauren Cohanhasn’t been seen since the end of filming on Episode 3. Of course, even if both actors have bene missing from the set, it doesn’t serve as confirmation that their characters are dead and gone. You may recall that, in Season 6, the main cast was often split up, and we would often go several episodes without seeing a number of different characters. It’s possible that bothSteven YeunandLauren Cohansimply haven’t been needed on set, which would account forSteven YeunfilmingOkjaandLauren Cohan’s recent photos from New York City.
Another report surfaced last month that revealed all 11 cast members who were trapped by Negan in the Season 6 finale, shot their owndeath scene, but we won’t know until the Season 7 premiere who was really killed. Still, we’ll surely learn a lot more when the show returns to Comic-Con next week, so stay tuned for more details. In the meantime, take a look atLaruen Cohan’s Instagram photos below.
