The original comics follow Dr. Stephen Strange, a neurosurgeon who loses everything after a car accident leaves both his hands injured, rendering him unable to perform surgery. This leads the Doctor to travel the world in search of a cure for his hands, where he meets The Ancient One, who takes Stephen under her wing. The Ancient One trains him to defend the world against evil on his way to becoming the Sorcerer Supreme.
