Does Tom Holland's Multiverse Problem in Spider-Man: Far from Home Need to Be Fixed?

Tom Holland has been having some trouble promotingSpider-Man: Far from Homelately. First, he was nearly set on fire during a photoshoot and now he thinks he may have pronounced “multiverse” wrong in the highly anticipated sequel. This is a far different set of problems than the young actor is used to dealing with. Usually, he has to watch what he says in interviews because of how spoiler-prone he is in regard to handing out Marvel Studios secrets like they’re candy on Halloween.

When asked about the multiverse in regard to the Marvel Cinematic Universe,Tom Hollandsaid, “I can tell you nothing… because I actually know nothing.” However, he has to know more since the multiverse is brought up inSpider-Man: Far From Home. Instead, Holland seems to have learned a new trick to get the interviewer off of the subject. The young actor might be able to teachAvengers: Endgameco-star Mark Ruffalo a thing or two now. He had this to say in response to the multiverse question.

“I know, I think… hmmm, yeah, I can’t, I can’t really talk about themultiverse. What I can say is that I think I said it wrong in the film, because I think in an American accent it’s multiverse and I said multiverse, and I realized that only a few interviews ago, so I think I’m going to have to go back and re-record me saying multiverse.”

The first time Tom Holland pronounced multiverse, he had the “i” sounding like an “e,” which is common. The second time, Holland had the “i” sounding like it traditionally does. In the end, it doesn’t really matter because the young actor is finally learning how to not give away spoilers and this was a pretty smart way to divert attention away from the mysterious multiverse which is now present in the MCU.

In theSpider-Man: Far From Hometrailer, Mysterio brings up the multiverse, which causesPeter Parkerto question it. Jake Gyllenhaal’s mysterious character is from another version of Earth and he is seen as an ally in all of the promotional material for the sequel. However, there is some fan speculation that he might not be such a nice guy on his version of Earth. This theory goes on to say that the Elementals are a fabricated disaster orchestrated by Mysterio. This obviously has not been confirmed at this time.

Spider-Man: Far From Homehits theaters on July 2nd in North America and the week before in China, so be on the lookout for spoilers because they are certainly on the way. Thehighly anticipated MCU sequelis going to show what the world is like post-Endgameand hopefully tease what the multiverse means for the MCU’s upcoming Phase 4.
