Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 - Aug. 2
The first blockbuster hit of 2023, James Gunn’sGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3is arriving at Disney+ on Aug. 2. An unknown director took some unknown comic characters and made one of the mostbeloved superhero films ever. Then did it again. And did it once again. There’s even a whole holiday special with the same characters that was a massive hit.
James Gunn ends his incredibly successful story following the ragtag gang of misfits led by Star-Lord (Christ Pratt), still reeling from the loss of Gamora (Zoe Saldaña), as they go to rescue one of their own and stop the High Evolutionary (Chukwudi Iwuji), who wants to end all imperfection to create his perfect society.

Gunn’sGuardians of the Galaxytrilogy will be remembered for having plenty of action and humor, filled with plenty of heart, as some of the best films in the whole MCU.
Rio 2 - Aug. 4
Arriving Aug. 4, Blu (Jesse Eisenberg), Jewel (Anne Hathaway), and their three kids leave Rio de Janeiro to explore the Amazon rainforest in the lively animated sequelRio 2. Hoping to make their little chicks act more like birds and less like humans, they find that living in the jungle isn’t easy.
They findJewel’s long-lost family, but a villainous logger threatens their habitat. Blu must prove himself and protect his family, all while navigating new surroundings. Through colorful adventures and music-filled escapades, the birds learn about family bonds, environmental issues, and the importance of staying true to themselves while they try to save their new home.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 - Aug. 11
Swinging in on Aug. 11 is the second film of the second reboot featuring the famed wall-crawling web-slinger,The Amazing Spider-Man 2.Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker continues to balance his secret life as a superhero and his demanding life as a college student alongside his romance with Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy.
Unlike the success of the first and even with the plans to build a whole new cinematic universe, this film failed at the box office, shutting down all hopes for more sequels. Despite Garfield’s and Stone’s excellent performances fueling their characters' chemistry with the fluid action throughout, the film suffered from an unfocused story and an underwhelming central villain.

There are plenty of reasons whyThe Amazing Spider-Man 2isnot as bad as some think, with themes of power, responsibility, and sacrifice, so go give it a watch and decide for yourself.
