With the first installment kicking off phase 4 of the MCU we had marvel fans all over the world coming together and analyzing every small detail of the 9 episode seriesWandaVision. When we did get things right boy did we nail them on the head but against the rights we certainly did get some more wrong. Let’s dive on in and celebrate the theories we got so so wrong.
The big bad
What would a Marvel cinematic be without at least one bad guy showing up but throughoutWandaVisionsometimes it was a little fuzzy who was actually in the wrong this time around. We speculated that Mephisto was going to be the one pulling the strings behind Wanda’s perfect little home town, but he was in fact no where to be seen in the town of Westview. Then we thought it was finally Wanda who had completely lost it through the pain she had been through with Peitro and Vision but low and behold she wasn’t the villain this time. As the episodes went on we found out that we had two “big bads”! Agnes and Hayward.
Dottie the Sorceress
With so much magic being thrown around and hints that Dottie was someone we should keep our eyes on. “Everything goes through Dottie In Westview” we had Theories that she would turn out to be none other then Clea who is at one point romantically linked with Dr. Strange. We had a huge hint with her flowers being yellow as Wanda’s where red and pink and Agnes’s being all purple so it only made sense that this would give us a strong lead because it all coincided with what colour the powers of the home owner are. But in the final episode we find that Dottie is in fact just a regular resident trapped inside the Hex.
The Beekeeper
When the mysterious man popped out of the sewer drain in a bee keeper outfit with bees buzzing around him we had a couple of thoughts on who this could be. A few spiderverse fans came up with the idea that it was the Villain Swarm whose genetic structure is made up of live bees. The second guess was that it was a minion of A.I.M with them being nicknamed worker bees which did have us guessing that A.I.M was behind what was going on in the larger picture. Again it was all just a transformation of a Soldier from SWORD to blend in with the era the ‘show’ was in at the time.
Pietro becomes Peter. With Pietro being hinted to return I personally wanted Aaron as quicksilver over Evan but we also wanted ties with the x-men to come into play so it did make sense. But in a weird anti climatical twist we found out that Peter Maximoff all this time was a wanna be actor but good old Agatha was playing another mean game with Wanda.
The Mysterious Cameo
With Paul (Vision) commenting in an interview that we would see a special cameo somewhere inWandaVisionwe sat waiting with excitement of who is going to come to Wanda’s aid and set her free or who was going to come and help Monika Rambeau. Who did we think was coming? Dr. Strange would have been the front liner with us already knowing that Wanda is coming toThe Multiverse of Madness.
Secondly we thought we might have had the first family show up with Reed Richards from theFantastic 4come up with the device that was going to get Monica into the Hex, With Monica having strong ties with the F4 it wouldn’t have been too wild of a guess. Any of the remaining Avengers would have been a great fit to stop by and check on what this mysterious red barrier was that imprisoned a town. However with Covid-19 taking over we do know that things had to be cut to keep the time line of releases on track withWandavisionbeing moved to the first project we know that Dr. Strange was actually cut from the series.
Visions alive with Wanda?
Certain events that we had believed to be Wanda breaking into SWORD HQ and stealing the body of Vision and some how reincarnating him to live out the happy life with Wanda in the tv show setting. We thought we had this one correct FINALLY! We had one right!! But we again had the facts thrown at us in the final two episodes that Vision was in fact created by Wandas chaos magic when the Hex went up and visions real body was still laying lifeless with SWORD until he was made into the White Vision to destroy the happy family life they had created together.
Wanda and the multiverse. Since the mention of the multiverse inFar From Home, fans assumed a potential multiverse storyline would happen in Phase Four. It seemed perfect thatWandaVisionwould kickstart the MCU with a possibility of the multiverse opening up if we went with The House of M storyline . Especially with Vision alive and well or so we thought, it implied that Wanda was growing powerful and finally reached breaking point where she opened the multiverse.
Despite all the hints that deemed this theory almost inevitable, it ended up being surprisingly wrong. Although Wanda could still be responsible for creating the multiverse, it, unfortunately, did not happen during the events ofWandaVision. But with the book of the damned (the dark hold) in the hands of Wanda will we now see Spider-ham come and save the day?
The 10th Episode
Do we all remember the calendar being marked for the 10th of March? Well that lead us to think that we would have a secret 10th episode as the dates slightly matched up with when the next episode would be released. However it was again just something used to make us go crazy with theories and did they certainly know how to get the fan base working over time on theories.
I personally loved everything about WandaVision and truly felt the pain that Wanda was going through and made me stand for The Scarlet Witch even more. What did u think about the theories we got right and oh so wrong? I’m excited to see where this now takes us into the future of phase 4.
Here are a few things we did get right though! The nosy neighbor Agnes was in fact Agatha Harkness! (It was Agatha all along). Monica is in fact Photon and we will be seeing her again inThe Marvels. The hands watching the tv at the end of the first episode was in fact Darcy Lewis which how anyone got that right to start that theory is beyond me.
