Following of the premiere ofExtraction 2on Netflix, plans are already coming together to turn the movie series into a trilogy. At Netflix’s TUDUM event on Saturday, director Sam Hargrave was joined by starChris Hemsworthto speak about the recent release ofExtraction 2, now streaming on Netflix. With the announcement live-streamed, Hemsworth revealed that work has already begun onExtraction 3, confirming that the third installment is in the early works.
“I want to thank all of you sincerely from the bottom of my heart, the fans and the support for the first film,” Hemsworth said, perComicBook.com. “We wouldn’t be here without you. So thank you, thank you so much… I know we’ve only just releasedExtraction 2, but is anyone interested in seeing more of Tyler Rake in the future? Well, guess what, because between us, between us friends, we’re already talking aboutExtraction 3thanks to the response.”
Extraction 2premiered on Netflix on June 16. As with the first film, it was a hit with viewers, pulling in reviews mainly on the positive side. If the powers that be at Netflix are also talking about a sequel already with Hargrave and Hemsworth, chances are the premiere also pulled in high viewership. In any case, given Hemsworth’s announcement, it’s looking like fans will get a third high-action adventure with Hemsworth as Tyler Rake.

Sam Hargrave Has Some Story Ideas in Mind for Part 3
Hargrave previously spoke about his desire to continue the story in a third installment, but he suggested it was contingent upon the success ofExtraction 2. He also teased how the sequel has seeds that were planted to be further explored in a third film, as he already has some ideas in mind on whereExtraction 3could go.
“We’re kind of waiting to see how the second movie is received," Hargrave toldBroBible. “Fingers crossed, if people enjoy the second one, there already is — and this is without spoiling anything — but there is a story in development for a third movie in the works. What it is exactly, I can’t say right now, but I believe there is another adventure in the wind for Tyler Rake.”
Hemsworth has also said how much he loves the Tyler Rake character, and that has him feeling up to do a third movie. In May, he said in aTotal Filminterview that he was happier with the second installment than he was with the original, and with that in mind, he believes that a thirdExtractioncould even be the best one yet.
“I love it. I love playing the character. I love this world. I love having something else outside of Marvel that’s amassed a bit of a following, something more in the real world,” Hemsworth explained. “I honestly feel like we made a better film than the first one. That’s rare in the franchise world. We’d be remiss not to have a crack at another one.”
