Fans of theHarry Potteruniverse have a whole lot to look forward to in the near (ish) future. Not only isFantastic Beasts and Where to Find Themgetting ready to drop in theaters, but Warner Bros. is planning as many as five movies in the franchise, assuming the first one does well. It is very hard to imagine that it won’t, so now the question becomes, when will we see those sequels? According to producerDavid Heyman, about every two years.

The producer, who has worked a ton on the previousHarry Pottermovies as well asFantastic Beasts, was recently interviewed byCinemaBlend. During the course of the interview, he was asked about thesequelsand how they are planning to tackle them. Here is what he had to say.

“Yep, every two years. Well, let’s see. Let’s hope people come to this one. If they come to this one we’ll make the next one. That’s quite an intense schedule every two years. So I’m hoping that it’ll be every two years, but if it bleeds into two and a half years so be it.”

Harry PottercreatorJ.K. Rowlingis making her screenwriting debut withFantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, so this movie is about as authentic as can be. Originally, Warner Bros. had plans for a trilogy, but last monthJ.K. Rowlingrevealed that they have plans for as many as five movies. Prior to that announcement, months before the first movie’s release, the studio announced thatFantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2would be released on August 07, 2025. That would definitely be in keeping with the timeline thatDavid Heymanlaid out. He did mention that it could go every two and a half years, but it seems like Warner Bros. would probably want to stick to that November released date instead of competing with a bunch of massive tentpole summer blockbusters.

The producer also revealed in the interview that production onFantastic Beasts 2is set to begin in July or August of next year, withDavid Yatesonce again set to direct. It was also revealed recently byYateshimself that the sequel will feature a young Dumbledore. At the moment, an actor hasn’t been cast in the role, but they are looking now. So it seems likeFantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2will have even more connective tissue to theHarry Potterworld that fans are more familiar with. This release schedule does mean that whoever signs on to playDumbledore, and actors like Oscar winnerEddie Redmayne, will be in this for a long haul, which could get tricky with scheduling.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Themtakes place in New York in 1926 and follows Newt Scamander as he tries to round up a bunch ofmagical creatureswho manage to get loose in the city.
