With 20th Century Fox’sFantastic Fourreboot hitting theaters in less than three weeks, the studio has unveiled another TV spot chocked full of new footage from thissuperhero movie. These never-before-seen moments reveal that the U.S. government has locked up the heroes after they obtain their new powers. But, asKate Mara’s The Invisible Woman points out, they “aren’t the ones to fear.” This video shows how there is “strength in numbers,” asMarvel’s first family comes together to stop the nefarious Doom (Toby Kebbell).

Fantastic Fouris a contemporary re-imagining ofMarvel’s original and longest-running superhero team, with the movie reportedly loosely based on the UltimateFantastic Fourcomics. Unlike the 2005Fantastic Four, this version features much younger versions of Mr. Fantastic (Miles Teller),The Human Torch(Michael B. Jordan),The Invisible Woman(Kate Mara) and The Thing (Jamie Bell). The story centers on these four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical forms in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy.

The supporting cast is rounded out byReg E. Catheyas Dr. Franklin Storm, the father of The Human Torch and The Invisible Woman, andTim Blake Nelsonas Harvey Elder. In theMarvelcomics, Harvey Elder is eventually transformed into The Mole Man, but, from the footage released so far, it isn’t known if this transformation will happen in the superhero reboot.Josh Trankdirects from a script bySimon Kinberg, who also serves as a producer on this movie and on 20th Century Fox’s upcomingX-Men: Apocalypse.

20th Century Fox has already putThe Fantastic Four 2sequel into development, but the project doesn’t have a director or screenwriter officially attached. A report surfaced earlier this month that the studio wantsX-Men: ApocalypsedirectorBryan Singerto take the helm for this superhero follow-up, with the movie reportedly being planned to set up a crossover betweenFantastic Fourand the lucrativeX-Menfranchise. That report was never confirmed, and it isn’t known what the studio has planned for theX-Menuniverse afterX-Men: Apocalypse. IfFantastic Fourproves to be a hit next month, a crossover may very well be put into development.

Both 2005’sFantastic Fourand the 2007 sequelFantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surferfared well at the box office during their theatrical runs.Fantastic Fourpulled in $154.6 million domestically and $330.5 million worldwide, while the sequel earned $131.9 million domestically and $289 million worldwide.
