The long-awaited horror sequel,Final Destination 6, has been received a promising update courtesy of franchise creator Jeffrey Reddick. Speaking withColliderrecently, Reddick revealed that the sixth outing in the series, which sees a group of friends cheat death before being systematically hunted down by an invisible force that is the Grim Reaper itself, is ready to go once the ongoing strike action comes to an end.

“There is a sixth one that’s planned the minute, again, the AMPTP comes back to the table, that movie is ready to go. It’s just nice as a genre fan to have something created that has become a part of the public zeitgeist. Again, I couldn’t have asked for more. We’re gonna get a winner, and also I spoke to Guy Busick, he did the Scream reboot, and [Lori] is his writing partner, and they were so gracious because they actually – I’m friends with Craig Perry to this day. We’re really tight. [He] produced it, and he’s like, ‘They called me.’ They wanted to talk to me about the first film and the second film, about what my thoughts were on what makes a Final Destination film – kind of the key elements that are crucial to me.”

Final Destination

Reddick heaped praise onFinal Destination 6writers Guy Busick and Lori Evans Taylor, their passion for the project, and their determination to maintain the integral themes while making things feel fresh.

“It’s just really nice because you don’t get that a lot. I’m friends with Eric Bress, who wrote part two. You become friends a lot of times with people just crossing paths, and Eric [Heisserer] who wrote part five is amazing. But it’s nice when the filmmakers actually call you and are like, ‘We wanna ensure that we get the essence of what’s important to you and what you think makes these Final Destinations, what you found connects with the fans.’ So, they have gone into the story with the best heart.”

Final Destination 6 Will Change the Familiar Formula

The last audiences basked in the creative, brutal deaths ofFinal Destinationwas back in 2011’sFinal Destination 5, which sees another gang narrowly escape death after one of them has a premonition. The fifth outing was met with mixed reviews, and is best known for its surprise ending, which finds what’s left of the group on the doomed Volée Airlines Flight 180 from the first movie.

While details of whatFinal Destination 6will involve remain unknown (there have been reports that it could center on first responders such as EMTs, firefighters, and the police), Reddick has previously revealed that will make changes to the familiar formula.

“I will say that it’s not just going to be another kind of ‘we set up a group of people, they cheat death, and then just death gets them,'” he said last year. “And there’s one wrinkle that we kind of added to every movie to kind of like change it up a little bit: this one is… a trueFinal Destinationmovie, but it doesn’t follow that kind of formula that we’ve kind of established… I think I can say that much.”

While we await furtherFinal Destination 6news, Reddick recently produced the action thrillerTil Death Do Us Part, and we got our hands on an exclusive clip that youcan check out here.
