While we wait for more details on the latest movie incarnation, the team at Gun Media has launched aKickstartercampaign to bringFriday the 13th: The Game to life. Gun Media has teamed up withKane Hodder, who playedJason Voorheesfour times on the big screen (Friday The 13th Part VII: The New Blood,Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan,Jason Goes To Hell: The Final FridayandJason X), makeup effects artistTom Saviniand the franchise’s co-creator,Sean S. Cunningham, for this new game. Take a look at the official description below, which reveals that fans will get to play as Jason.

Kane Hodderwill provide the motion capture work for Jason Voorhees, withTom Saviniexecutive producing and providing cinematography, while Harry Manfredini will provide the score. The Gun Media team was originally planning on making aFriday the 13thgame entitledSummer Camp, but their plans were expanded onceSean S. Cunninghamcame on board and granted them the video game license. There will be several different gameplay options, where fans can play as either Jason Voorhees or the seven camp counselors, and fans will even get to create their own movie trailer based on the games they play. The iconic character Tommy Jarvis, played byCorey FeldmaninFriday The 13th: The Final Chapter, will also return as an in-game guide for the player.
TheKickstarercampaign launched today, and will end on November 13, which fittingly falls on a Friday. The project has already raised over $89,000 in its first day, with a funding goal of $700,000. The rewards packages range from a $5 donation that includes a Digital Wallpaper pack, while $40 gets you exclusive PC Beta access, plus a digital download key for the game on either PC, XBox or PS4 formats. For fans who have a bit more money to spend, a $400 donation will get you a physical copy of the game on PC, XBox or PS4, and you will be “immortalized” in the camp counselor database. You can also play the game with a Kickstarter exclusive version of Jason designed byTom Savini, which includes a special weapon. For the ultimate high-roller, you can spend $10,000 to be part of the actual game as one of the playable camp counselors, and attend the launch party.

All of the rewards have an estimated delivery date of October 2016, so that could mean that the game will be released around that same time.
