Halloween Endswas not met with the kindest reviews upon its release, but what’s certain is that the film did get a lot of people watching. PerVariety, the sequel has managed to rank in the streaming top 10 list on Nielsen’s rankings for the week of Oct. 10 through Oct. 16, landing at No. 8 on the overall list. The film, which debuted on Oct. 14, was released both in theaters and on NBCUniversal’s streaming service Peacock with more than 717 million minutes streamed on the latter within its first three days. When limiting that list to movies only, then Halloween Ends sits at No. 1.
It was previously announced thatHalloween Endshad also set thebiggest debut for Peacockas well. Clearly, there were many people watching the movie at home, and to a certain extent, that may have affected ticket sales. Even so,Halloween Endswasn’t a total dud at the box office, as it grossed more than $40.1 million with its opening weekend despite the Peacock availability.

Halloween Ends Drew High Viewership Despite Backlash
Negative reviews about the film didn’t seem to stop too many people from watchingHalloween Endson Peacock. The film was criticized by many fans for some of the creative directions taken with the story, going so far also to have fans launching a petition to remake the film with a different script. Meanwhile, there have been other friends offering praise to director David Gordon Green for doing something “different” with thisHalloweenstory. In any case, this kind of division is nothing new for the franchise, which has already seen its share of polarizing sequels.
Even if some fans were leery heading into the film considering the reviews, there was certainly a big interest held by many in seeing what’s been hyped as the final battle between Laurie Strode and Michael Myers. There are no plans to make any sequels toHalloween Ends, which has a pretty definitive conclusion, and it really seems like we’ve seen the last of Jamie Lee Curtis’s Laurie Strode with this film. Considering how popular theHalloweenfranchise remains, there were naturally many, many people quite curious to see how things ended.
