Warner Bros. is just under a week away from finally releasingSuicide Squadin theaters. Lucky for them, early buzz has been very positive and the movie looks to be a complete 180 fromBatman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. The movie centers around a group ofsuper villainstrying to do some good for the world. As it turns out, the movie seems to line up withQuentin Tarantino’s sensibilities more than we may have thought, at least in terms of the general premise.

Recently, Loot Crate decided to have some fun withSuicide Squadand uploaded a video to theirYouTubechannel that showcases what the movie might look like ifQuentin Tarantinohad directed it. It is so much more awesome than we thought it could have been. Oddly enough, the company behind a geek-centric monthly subscription box service absolutely nailed it.

The video essentially takes on the plot structure from the original trailer forSuicide Squad, and subs in a bunch ofTarantino’s famous characters in place of theDC Comics bad guys(and girls). The team that Loot Crate assembled for the fake trailer (that we kind of wish were real now) includes The Bride, Jules fromPulp Fiction, Django, Gogo and of course, Lieutenant Aldo Raine. The team heads off to Germany to take on Nazis and there are buckets of over the top blood, in trueQuentin Tarantinofashion, which is pretty fantastic.

There is a very good chance that, even though pretty much every studio is pumping out a ton ofsuperhero movies, we will never seeQuentin Tarantinodirect one. Some time back, he had expressed interest and was even kicking around ideas for aLuke Cagemovie, but that definitely isn’t happening. One, because theLuke Cageseries is coming out on Netflix soon and two, becauseTarantinois doing his own thing. This fake, but awesome trailer may be the closest thing we ever get to aTarantinocomic book movie.

Lately, the director has been stating that he plans to stop making movies after his tenth. The Hateful Eightwas his eighth, so if he holds true to his word, that means we only have two more movies coming fromTarantinoThat being the case, there is almost no chance one of them is going to be a superhero movie, and it definitely won’t beSuicide Squad. However, we can watch this trailer and enjoy the thought of what could have been. TheSuicide Squad moviecomes out on August 5.
