The movie is based on the incredible untold true story of the brilliant African-American women working atNASA. They served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit. 20th Century Fox has also released the first poster for their upcoming film, which is sure to be an Oscar contender.
Hidden Figuresstars an epic ensemble of award-wrothy talent including Taraji P. Henson,Octavia Spencer& Janelle Monáe. In theaters this January is the incredible untold story of Katherine G. Johnson (Taraji P. Henson), Dorothy Vaughan (Octavia Spencer) and Mary Jackson (Janelle Monáe). These brilliant African-American women worked at NASA. And they helped guide a stunning achievement that restored the nation’s confidence. Their work turned around the Space Race, and galvanized the world. The visionary trio crossed all gender and race lines to inspire generations to dream big.
Hidden Figureswas directed by Theodore Melfi. After helming a number of successfulshort films, Melfi made his directorial debut with the dramaSt. Vincent, which starred Bill Murray, Melissa McCarthy, Naomi Watts and Chris O’Dowd. He has also produced a number of indie dramas includingGame of LifeandBed & Breakfast.
Theodore Melfi co-wrote theHidden Figuresscreenplay alongside Alison Schroeder, whose most notable work to date is the direct-to-video sequelMean Girls 2. The movie is based on the book by Margot Lee Shetterly. Producers include Donna Gigliotti, Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, Pharrell Williams, and Theodore Melfi. Kevin Costner, Kirsten Dunst, Jim Parsons, Mahershala Ali, Aldis Hodge, and Glen Powell round out the cast.
Hidden Figureswill debut in theaters July 12, 2025. It will be going up against Ben Affleck’s latest directorial effortLive By Nightas well as Paramount Pictures' family Sci-fi comedy adventureMonster Trucks. Mark Walhberg’sPatriots' Day, about the Boston Bombings, will go wide after a limited run during the Christmas season. Paramount also currently has theFriday the 13thremake scheduled to open on this date, in what is certainly a crowded market place. But we expect that slasher thriller is getting moved to October 13.
