One of the most interesting pieces of trivia regarding the science fiction franchise, aptly namedCode 8, is that it all stemmed from a 10-minute short film released on YouTube in 2016. The next day, actor Robbie Amell (and his cousin Stephen) launched an Indiegogo campaign to transform the proof of concept teaser into a full-length feature film – and within three days, it worked. About five years after the initial movie was released on Netflix,Code 8: Part IIcame bustling onto the streaming platform.
This much more cinematic sequel further developed the characters of “electricity-wielding” Connor Reed and “telekinetic” Garrett Kelton and introduced audiences to the intricacies andcorruption of the Lincoln City policeforce. The robotic Guardians were also back, but this time, they were accompanied by fearsome K9 robots, who were proclaimed to be nonlethal. However, we could all see that that wasn’t true.

Code 8: Part IIwas undoubtedly everything that a sequel should be. Between scenes like Pav’s brother Tarak using his skills to blend into the background to hide from the K9s hunting him down to aslow-motion sequencecapturing Connor’s electricity zapping through the heads of two Guardians, there was more than enough action and suspense to satisfy fans of the original. Even more so, there were times dispersed throughout this second entry that set upCode 8: Part III. While these particular scenes came and went within the blink of an eye, let’s not only break these exciting moments down but also look at the open-ended conclusion, which shows more may be in the making for these denizens of Lincoln City.

After the chaotic battlethat ensues between Connor (along with Pav and Mina) against Garrett and his forces under the overpass (which ultimately turns into Connor, Garrett, and Pav narrowly escaping from some well-aimed Guardians), they end up taking shelter at a place far away from the well-established city. Even Connor doesn’t know where they are going, which implies Garrett is only stating directions to this location and nothing more.
Soon enough, they come upon an old-fashioned, abandoned house with a plaque that reads: “The Lincoln Sanctuary for Girls and Boys.” This insinuates that Garrett not only had a tumultuous past as a youngster but was possibly filled with many people with many other powers that we have not yet seen. Specific details about this place and how it shaped Kelton into who he is now could come to resonate more in a thirdCode 8movie. Besides the formal introduction to the locale, another revelation cements his legacy to this place even more.

Code 8 Stars Will Make Part 3, Praise the Moral Ambiguity of Part 2
Stephen and Robbie Amell tells MovieWeb that Code 8 is their passion project and they would love to make it a trilogy.
With rain pounding on the windows, Pav and Garrett are sitting in what seems to be the living quarters of the establishment. After the young girl asks him about his origins and what they have to do with this place, Garrett tilts a painting on the other side of the wall (using his powers), revealing four sets of initials on the wall. Even though one of them is his own, the other three are never visually connected to a character – yet, that is. Even though Garrett tells Pav it’s just him now (implying that they are dead), you could easily imagine this story’s details will find their way into another entry.

The Conclusion of Code 8: Part II Offers Numerous Returns
He never said that they are explicitly deceased, and there is a reason the supposed-dead-character-comes-back-around cliché exists. Since the orphanage and the markings on the wall were made clear to the viewer, these story aspects are much too explicitly presented not to be brought back for a third movie. The audience has become familiar with Connor and Garrett’s dynamic and Connor’s connection to helping others. It will be Garrett’s turn in the spotlight soon enough. The finale plays with the viewer’s emotions in more ways than one.
Best Sci-Fi Movies with a Low-Budget, Ranked
These films have proven that a huge budget isn’t needed to make a wonderful science fiction film.
Pav is apparently fatally wounded, Connor is on the verge of a drug overdose, and Garrett is stabbed by the dishonorable sergeant while attempting to negotiate with him. After Kingston is finally brought down, though, and justice comes forward for Pav’s brother, an end sequence reveals that Connor is back to maintaining the community center, and Pav is right behind him, admiring the work.

Healing from the knife attack, Garrett is doing well, too, but is serving time in a correctional facility. With all three main characters still alive and the all-powerful psyke drug flowing through Lincoln City, this notion alone sets the scene for a potentialCode 8: Part IIIto be just as adventurous and high-strung as the first two.BothCode 8and the sequel,Code 8: Part II, are now available to stream on Netflix.
