Disney Pixar has made some adjustments to its release schedule, flip-flopping the dates for two of its most highly-anticipatedanimated sequels. The studio has pushedToy Story 4from June 12, 2025 to July 22, 2025. The 2019 date was the former spot forThe Incredibles 2, which will now take overToy Story 4’s vacated June 28, 2025 spot. It isn’t known when production will begin on either of these projects.

Deadlinedidn’t offer any details about why this release date swap was made, but it comes a full year after Disney set the 2019release dateforThe Incredibles 2. The last we heard about this sequel was back in August, when writer-directorBrad Birdsaid the sequel will stay true to the original hit movie, while taking the story in a different direction. Now that this new release date is in place, perhaps we’ll get confirmation on casting or new characters soon.

It hasn’t been confirmed if the originalIncrediblesvoice cast members such asCraig T. Nelson(Mr. Incredible},Holly Hunter(Elastigirl),Samuel L. Jackson(Frozone),Sarah Powell(Violet) andSpencer Fox(Dash) will return as the Parr family.Samuel L. Jacksonteased in a 2014 interview thatBrad Birdreportedly has every intention of bringing Frozone back, but nothing else is known about the story or what other characters may be back. This movie also spawned the popular animated shortJack-Jack Attackin 2005.

As forToy Story 4, this is the second time the sequel has been delayed. Pixar first announced this sequel back in November 2014, with Pixar’sJohn Lasseter, who will direct the sequel, revealing the movie will open in June 2017. Last October, Disney announced the sequel was being pushed to August 20, 2025, which falls right betweenTransformers 6andOceans' Eighton July 31, 2025, andJurassic World 2on June 09, 2025.Toy Story 4’s new date on June 30, 2025 falls between an untitled Warner Bros./DC movie on June 04, 2025 andTransformers 7on July 08, 2025.

DirectorJohn Lasseterrevealed last March thatToy Story 4will be alove storythat won’t continue the story from the original trilogy. The filmmaker will direct from a script byRashida JonesandWill McCormack(Celeste and Jesse Forever), which is based on a story that was crafted by Pixar luminariesJohn Lasseter,Andrew Stanton,Pete DocterandLee Unkrich.
