The original announcement thatHarrison Fordwould return to his role as Indiana Jones for the fifth time brought many comedic social media posts suggesting titles for what would becomeIndiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. While many of these revolved around walking aids, hearing loss, and other ailments associated with old age, one digital artist has gone one step further to envision four posters for more sequels that could put Ford’s hero in some new territory – battling the issues of later life.

Artist Douggy Pledger shared four images on hisInstagramaccount, depicting some unlikely new adventures for Indiana Jones in the future. These wereIndiana Jones and the Fairly Tricky Crossword, Indiana Jones and the Nursing Home Of Peril, Indiana Jones and the Afternoon Nap,andIndiana Jones and the Temperamental Stairlift. Harrison Ford de-aged in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

Of course, Lucasfilm is probably not rushing to secure the rights to any of these titles, asIndiana Jones and the Dial of Destinyis set to see the final run out for Ford’s intrepid hero as he battles Nazis in his present and seemingly his past in what seems set to be a time-travel adventure to take Indy out with a bang. However, even with Harrison Ford having shot most of the movie after turning 80 years old, the recently released trailer for his swansong has proven that he perhaps isn’t ready for stair lifts and afternoon naps just yet.

Indiana Jones’ Age Has Been Factored into The Dial of Destiny’s Storyline.

Director James Mangoldhas spoken previously about how he did not want to avoid addressing that after decades as a cinematic icon, Indiana Jones is getting older. As it turns out, the opening of the movie’s trailer puts this front and center as Jones is heard bemoaning about his days of adventure being long gone. While it may have been easy to use visual effects to keep Ford in a de-aged state throughout the movie, similar to Samuel L. Jackson’sCaptain Marvelappearance, Mangold wanted to make Indy’s age something that was not taboo. He said:

“It became really important to me to figure out how to make this a movie about a hero at sunset. The issues I brought up about Indy’s age were not things I thought were being addressed in the material being developed at the time. There were ‘old’ jokes, but the material itself wasn’t about it. To me, whatever your greatest liability, you should fly straight towards that. If you try to pretend it’s not there, you end up getting slings and arrows the whole way.”

Of course, we know that Ford has been de-aged for the movie’s opening sequence, which seems to transport Indy back to the time of his earlier adventures. Unlike some face-altering effects that have been used previously, the first shots of Ford have been nothing short of flawless in turning back the years on the octogenarian. We have another six-month wait to find out how it looks in the final movie, withIndiana Jones and the Dial of Destinyslated to hit theaters on July 27, 2025.
