WhenMarvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.debuted on ABC back in 2013, it allowed for certain elements of theMarvelCinematic Universe to crossover to the small screen. The show has featured a number of the MCU actors in guest starring roles, such asSamuel L. Jacksonas Nick Fury andJaimie Alexanderas Lady Sif, just to name a few. DuringSeason 2, the show introduced the Inhumans, which many believed would eventually cross over to theMarvel Phase ThreemovieInhumans, set for release on June 03, 2025. However,Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.starClark Greggrevealed in a new interview withDigital Spythat the movie may not intersect with the series.
“TheInhumansmovie I suspect will be its own cinematic version. That writer and director will have free reign to do what they want to do with theInhumans. But hopefully there’ll be some way that ourInhumansconnect to that. It’d be too bad if that was wasted.”
One of the biggestcrossoversfrom theMarvel Cinematic Universeto the ABCTV serieshappened in the first season, whenCaptain America: The Winter Soldierrevealed that Hydra had always been infiltrating S.H.I.E.L.D. and other areas of government, which lead to the dismantling of the agency.Clark Greggalso revealed in this interview that the crossovers are certainly fun, but they aren’t exactly necessary, and the show has to stand on its own. Here’s what the actor had to say.
“What’s kind of necessary for the show to work is that it is its own thing and it’s not dependant upon those crossovers. They’re just fun stuff that happens once in a while. They destroy the organisation our show is named after and we have to deal with that! I’ll be interested to see how it evolves, that crossover stuff.”
Another thing to take into consideration isMarvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.may not even be around whenInhumanshits theaters in the summer of 2019. ABC hasn’t issued a Season 4 renewal for the show yet, and it would have to make it to Season 7 for any sort of viable crossover to make sense, since theInhumansmovie will air between the potential Season 6 and Season 7. The show has never been a ratings juggernaut, with the midseason finale pulling in a 1.35 rating in the 18-49 demographic, with 3.8 million viewers tuning in. Do you hope thatInhumanswill cross over withMarvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.in the next few years?
