The success of the Starz historical fantasy seriesOutlanderis predominantly connected to the captivating depiction of the relationship between the two main characters, Jamie and Claire, and the rest of the characters are all somehow connected to them. While each and every single one of them brings something exciting to the table, there is one specific character who has been getting much more screen time inOutlanderSeason 7, and we are here for it.
William Ransom, raised by Lord John but actually the biological son of Jamie, is not the young boy who we saw joking around with Jamie when he was still working as a groom for the Dunsany family at Helwater. Their paths crossed various times, but when William finally learned the truth, his life was turned upside down. At least he met someone through his hardship, but is this couple inOutlanderendgame?

How Did William and Jane Meet in ‘Outlander’?
William hasn’t had it easy, there is no doubt about that. The reason for this is that he accidentally found out that Jamie was his father, and ever since then he has been struggling to digest the news. Unsure of his own identity, he started questioning everything in his life. WhenWilliam went rogue inOutlanderupon receiving this shocking news, he landed in a brothel after getting into trouble. There he found a very impolite and arguably dangerous Captain Harkness, who was trying to get his hands on one of the women working there, Jane.
His protective instincts kicked in, and he paid for Jane in order to take her to a separate room. Though grateful, she also wanted to give him what he paid for, but William had no interest in her service. The shock was still weighing on him, and he hadn’t had anyone to talk to up to that point. When William told Jane that they could just go and get some rest, a real connection unfolded between them, and one thing led to another. William finally got the chance to let his feelings flow, as Jane was there to catch him.

Apart fromOutlander’s most controversial episode, the series also has quite a few filler episodes, which feel somewhat unnecessary to fans, but allow the characters to develop organically. Episode 14 ofOutlanderis one of those filler episodes, but it spends a good amount of time on moving William’s storyline forward.William and Jane balance each other out, personality-wise, even though they have some fierce arguments occasionally. True Jamie and Claire fashion.

What Did Jane Do in ‘Outlander’?
After the two split paths, since William had to return to follow his duty as a soldier (he was certainly also raised byduty-driven Lord John), Jane and her little sister unexpectedly showed up at the military tents. There, Jane reveals to William that Captain Harkness had returned and paid double the money in order to take Jane’s little sister to a room. Following the two, Jane sneaked in and,in an attempt to save Franny and herself, she stabbed the man to death. They had no other option but to flee immediately, which is why they decided to seek William’s help.
To be honest, William and Jane didn’t have a great start, and there sure are some disagreements and tensions between them. However, it is hard to deny that they also have a fiery chemistry, which has fans longing for more scenes between these two excitingOutlandercharacters. Because of this, it is also understandable thatWilliam decided to help them without hesitation, but his plans didn’t turn out the way he wanted to.

Unfortunately, a friend of the deceased Captain Harkness spots Jane and her little sister, and recognizes her from the fateful night Harkness was killed. He immediately has Jane arrested, dragging her away from her sister.Outlander’s shocking twists in Season 7are nothing for the fainthearted. Unsure of what to do, Franny went to find William and frantically told him about the situation. When Jane’s younger sister delivered the dreadful news, he sprinted off like a knight in shining armor. He is a Fraser, that’s for sure.
It’s not surprising that the young girl was instantly worried about the fact that her older sister and sole caretaker might be hanged for her actions, even if they stemmed from a place of self-protection. While Jane’s future in the widely lovedOutlanderseries is still unclear and episode 15 left fans begging for William to find and save her, the Diana Gabaldon’s novel series has some more information on that front.

‘Outlander’ Could and Should Adapt the Final Book as a Film
Taking cues from ‘The Last Kingdom’, the ‘Outlander’ series must adapt Diana Gabaldon’s 10th and final novel.
Warning: Spoilers ahead for those who haven’t read the Outlander novels

What Happens to Jane and William in the ‘Outlander’ Books?
William and Jane’s storyline isn’t much different in the books compared to what happens in thelong-running TV series. Jane and her little sister sought William’s help after the deadly incident between them and Captain Harkness, but Jane was also arrested. Spoiler Alert! There was nothing William could have done in order to help her. Hence, she was indeed hanged for the murder, and their relationship, which barely even started, ended prematurely.
This sadly leads to the assumption that William and Jane have no chance of being endgame in the series, after all. All that remains to do now is hope that theOutlanderseries might take a slightly different approach, in which William somehow, miraculously, manages to save Jane from certain death, and they get to live a happily ever after inOutlanderSeason 8. Pretty please. William frankly has been through a lot recently, and Jane unexpectedly turned out to be his rock. Let’s grant him some much-needed love and stability.Outlanderairs weekly on Starz.
