Last week, a Twitter account surfaced that claimed to be run byCaptain America: Civil WardirectorsAnthony RussoandJoe Russo, which appeared to be teasing bits and pieces of the newSpider-Mancostume. While the Twitter account and the photos were never verified as authentic,Latino-Reviewhas uncovered a fan illustration from 2012, which, according to, “a source with access to theSpider-Mancostume,” hints at what the costume looks like. Naturally, the authenticity of this depiction cannot be confirmed, but it certainly is intriguing. And it must be noted that the images in question are fan art that has been swimming around on the Internet for a few years, and in no way associated with Sony, Marvel or the movie itself. These are just close enough to tease the type of homemade costumeTom Hollandwill sport in the movie.
ProducerKevin Feigehas stated in the past that the new Spidey will be wearing a “homemade costume,” and if this artwork is close to what they have in mind, the costume will certainly appear homemade. The site mentions that specific aspects of the costume like the gloves and mask lenses will be much different when we finally see theSpider-Man costume, especially since this is art that has nothing to do with the movie. Earlier this month,Marvel’sJoe Quesadastated that the new costume will “blow people away” when they finally get to see it. When that will happen, though, is anyone’s guess.

Tom Holland, who is playing the new web-crawler, will make an appearance inCaptain America: Civil Warbefore the stand aloneSpider-Manmovie, but it isn’t known when he will be shooting his role quite yet. Production onCaptain America: Civil Waris currently under way in Atlanta, so perhaps we’ll get our first look at the costume through photos taken from the set. Then again, we haven’t seen many set photos lately, so perhaps we’ll have to wait for Sony andMarvelto officially unveil the costume at some point, whenever that may be. It should also be stated that this is supposed to be one of Spider-Man’s early costumes. And even though he sports it inCaptain America: Civil War, he will be getting a much more traditional costume in the 2017 reboot. Though, that costume is said to be black and red instead of blue and red, the original colors in the comic book when the Marvel character was first introduced.
Spider-Manwill bringPeter Parkerback to high school, with this reboot said to be the first movie in a new trilogy, with each movie set during a different year of his high school career.Marisa Tomeiis also in talks to portray Aunt May, but no other cast members have been confirmed at this point.Jon Watts(Cop Car) is directing from a script byJohn Francis DaleyandJonathan M. Goldstein.

It was also revealed during the Sony Hack thatSpider-Manwill eventually end up in the Iron Spider suit by the end of this new movie, but that was never confirmed by the studio. If that is true, then even if the costume image below is real, we may not see Spidey wearing a number of different costumes. While we wait for more details to come in, check out the costume illustration below, and let us know what you think. (Also note, once again, that tweet is wrong, this image is fan art not associated or from the movie at all. It’s just the closest approximation to the new suit that can be used to describe what is going on without getting into legal trouble.)
