Something always thought impossible has happened as long-timeJames Bondproducers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilsonrelinquished creative control of 007 to Amazon. Now that this has happened (and we’ve all had time to react), fans of the franchise have taken to social media to reveal what spin-off projects they would most like to see. And bringing back a former star as an aged version of the iconic spy is currently sitting at the top of the list.
Now that Daniel Craig has departed the role following 2021’sNo Time to Die, and with Amazon now taking the reins and likely steering the franchise in a direction we’ve never seen before, many are calling forGoldenEyeandTomorrow Never DiesstarPierce Brosnanto return as an aged James Bond. “You know you want it. And you want Amazon to give it to you,” says X/Twitter user and 007 fan @Thunderballs007 while sharing several poster mock-ups teasing what such a project could look like.

Why Amazon Taking Control of James Bond Could Be the Worst Thing in the History of Everything
James Bond will return…but will we even care?
The response to such an idea has been extremely positive, with fellow Bond fan@Shaun_Wrenfeeling Brosnan deserves a proper send-off followingthe much-malignedDie Another Day. “I would like Brosnan to get a proper send off because I can’t have DAD be his final Bond. I would go the Logan route with a lower budget, but do worry it’ll go theNever Say Never Againway in terms of story. I’d have Horowitz writing the script,” they said.

An Aged James Bond Would Reflect These Cinematic Times
In some ways, bringing Pierce Brosnan as an older James Bond makes sense. The character has always reflected the cinematic trends of the time, and thanks to the likes of Liam Neeson and Denzel Washington, as well as all manner of nostalgic blockbusters, we are inthe age of the aged action heroand the legacy sequel. It’s also undeniable that Brosnan has maintained the same charisma and affinity for action that he displayed with aplombover four Bond movies. “Now THAT would be a great #JamesBond with Pierce Brosnan as today’s Bond,” declares@AuthorPylesJ, while@TheShinBatman84adds, “And i’d pay top [dollar] to see Brosnan as Bond again.” The upbeat reactions continue courtesy of@KelleyToons, who says, “Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes (this is the ONLY way I’ll ever be interested in Bond again. And I’m not alone - this would be a license for them to print money).”
However, in what’s sure to be a sign of things to come as the James Bond franchise is contorted into another shared universe brimming with “content,” not everyone is on board. “He had his run. I’d prefer Dalton,” says@migscarreira, while@AdrianAskariehdoes not want to see 007 turned into an introspective character dealing with age (Bond did already do this with several of the Craig outings). “The whole old man Bond shit just sounds like a dumb idea honestly. It worked forLoganbecause he’s a dark and tragic character. That template wouldn’t really mesh well with Brosnan and Dalton. Plus we had old man Bond for the past 3 movies like c’mon now,” they said.

For now, we will have to simply wait and see what Amazon decidesto do with the James Bond characterand franchise. But is an aged 007 movie led by Pierce Brosnan something you’d like to see happen?
