Hollywood legendJames CaanandFireflystarMorena Baccarinhave joined Pierce Brosnan in the action thrillerFast Charlie. Phillip Noyce (Salt) is directing the film from a screenplay by Richard Wenk (The Equalizer).Fast Charlieis based on Victor Gischler’s novelGun Monkeys.

The plot synopsis for the film (viaDeadline) reads:

“Charlie Swift has worked for his aging mob boss Stan for twenty years, skilfully operating as a prolific fixer and efficient hitman. When a rival boss moves to eliminate Stan and his entire team, he fails in wiping the team clean. Now on his own, Charlie will stop at nothing to avenge his friend and has no plans to leave anyone alive.”

Pierce Brosnanwill play the lead role of hitman Charlie Swift, with James Caan playing his boss Stan. Morena Baccarin will “play the female lead Marcie, the ex-wife of a mobster killed by Charlie, who forms an unexpected pairing with Charlie in his revenge against the rival mob.”

Fast Charliewill begin filming in New Orleans in the first week of April. Screen Media will distribute the film in the U.S., with Foresight handling international sales. Daniel Grodnik and Mitchell Welch will serve as producers. Director Phillip Noyce expressed his excitement at the casting:

“I’m absolutely thrilled to have James Caan and Morena Baccarin aboard. I can’t imagine a more perfect pair than Morena and Pierce. Not to be cute, but they really do make a killer couple.”

Morena Baccarin is best known forstarring inDeadpooland her main role as Inara Serra in the short-lived seriesFirefly. She has also acted in several popular TV shows likeThe Flash, Gotham, andHomeland, the latter of which earned her an Emmy nomination. Baccarin will next appear alongside Gerard Butler inGreenland: Migration. James Caan is a Hollywood veteran and academy award-nominated actor best known for playing Santino “Sonny” Corleone inThe Godfather. He will next star in Tom Burruss’sRedemptionand Francis Ford Coppola’sMegalopolis.

There is currently no word onFast Charlie’srelease date, but with filming commencing next week, the film could hit theaters sometime in 2023. A talented, well-known cast, an accomplished director, and acclaimed source material, Fast Charlie is a complete package. The producers have also teased a fun and exciting film featuring a likable killer. Hopefully,Fast Charliewill deliver on the promise.

Pierce Brosnan Will Next Be Seen as DC Superhero Doctor Fate In Black Adam

Pierce Brosnan is set to make his entry into the DCEU withBlack Adam. The former James Bond actor will play one of DC comics’ oldest, most well-known, and powerful superheroes, Doctor Fate.Black Adamproducer Hiram Garcia, in an interview with The Illuminerdi, praised Brosnan and his charisma, saying:

“He has such a command of just presence on screen, I think the minute he goes on there. And seeing him with all of our young actors as well, it’s so fun to see them just hang with him, get to know him. They all became such close friends on this process and were hanging so much offset on downtime. And you could feel that energy and that chemistry when they were on screen. He was such a dream casting.”

WhileDwayne “The Rock” Johnson is playing the titular antihero inBlack Adam, fans are also looking forward to Brosnan’s portrayal of Doctor Fate. And his terrific, comic-accurate suit and appearance in the trailers have only added to the anticipation. Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (Orphan, The Shallows),Black Adamwill hit the theaters on August 19, 2025.
