The cancelation ofWestworldleft many fans of the series disappointed. It seems that actorJames Marsdenfeels just as bad about the demise of the show after four seasons, but hasn’t quite given up hope of a fifth and final season happening at some point. While this certainly doesn’t seem to be something being considered by Warner Bros. Discovery, there is a slim possibility that someone else could pick up the option of completing theWestworldstory. Speaking toRolling Stone, Marsden said:

“I’d be lying to you if I told you that the way we ended Westworld wasn’t a disappointment. I’m never going to speak without gratitude about any of my experiences, but it would have been nice to be able to complete the story we wanted to finish. I love this Westworld family. It was one of those unique opportunities to be part of something where I also would be sitting at home ravenously waiting for the next episode as a fan. I totally understand it’s an expensive show and big shows have to have big audiences to merit the expense, I just wish it was about more than financial success. But who knows, maybe there’s some world where it can get completed somehow. Maybe that’s just wishful thinking, because I know we had plans to finish it the way we wanted to.”

Westworld Fans Have Not Given Up on the Series Either After Starting a Petition.

Just likeZack Snyder’s Justice LeagueandManifest, fans believe that they have the power to change the minds of those who canceledWestworldand have gone beyond asimple social media campaignby setup up theSaveWestworld.comwebsite. The website states:

“As you may be aware, Westworld has recently been canceled before the planned fifth and final season. Since the beginning, Westworld’s creators had this last piece of the loop in mind to tie everything together in the end. Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan are legends in their craft and deserve to finish their original design. Many of us fans are left devastated, as we considered Westworld to set a gold standard for storytelling, acting, and filmmaking as a whole. The show has incredible rewatch value, with secrets and easter eggs scattered everywhere, teasing an ultimate solution to a complex problem: How does humanity save itself from a rebelling artificial intelligence? It would be a shame for something of such high effort to be simply left in the dust.”

Despite the passion of the show’s fanbase, the volume of those who care about the series may not be enough to warrant the hefty production cost of what would likely have been a final season of the sci-fi drama. Although Netflix picked up the previously canceledManifestfor one last season, as well asLuciferbefore that, and there is always a “never say never” attitude shown by diehard fans following the premature ending of any series, forWestworldthe system may have been powered down for good.
