While some thought the cameo would be a one-off, it appears thatShrinkinghas grander plans for Sofi in the upcoming third season.
During a recent panel with the cast ofShrinking, Christa Miller (Liz inShrinking) and Segel revealed that Cobie Smulders will be back in the show’s third season, and what it meant for Segel to have anotherHIMYMreunion. “I got to work with Cobie today, who I’m obsessed with,” Miller said, confirming that Smulders makes some sort of return in Season 3. Jason Segel then explained that, despite starring alongside Cobie Smulders for a decade onHow I Met Your Mother, their characters didn’t have a big connection, so they wanted to make up for that inShrinking. Segel said:
“Cobie and I worked together for ten years. But because of the way that I was married on the show, and it was a lot of episodes about being single and looking for partners, Cobie and I never really had any storylines together. And I always really wanted to work with her. But I’ve been reflecting on the scene, because I watched the scene, and I’m like, ‘Oh, we caught something.'”

‘Shrinking’ Season 3 Features Some Gigantic Names
Shrinkingalready has a phenomenal cast. Alongside Segel and Miller, the core cast includes Jessica Williams, Luke Tennie, Michael Urie, Ted McGinley, Wendie Malick, Heidi Gardner, and… oh yeah, Harrison Ford! As well as Cobie Smulders, Season 2 also introduced Brett Goldstein’s Louis, who was responsible for the death of Jimmy’s wife after a drink-driving incident.
Season 3 is upping the ante even further, as the show’s third season will introduce two major A-listers to give Harrison Ford a run for his money. Last year, it was announced thatDumb & Dumber,Speed, andThe Newsroomstar Jeff Daniels was joiningShrinkingfor Season 3. More recently,Back to the Futurestar Michael J. Foxwas also confirmed to make an appearance on the show. While Fox’s character hasn’t been revealed, it will likely tie into Harrison Ford’s storyline, as his character, Paul, has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease (which Michael J. Fox also has).ShrinkingSeason 3 hasn’t been given an official release date yet, but production is ongoing.
