‘Operation Fortune’ Was Divisive Among Critics but Adored by Audiences
Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerrewas met with a deeply divisive response from critics, landing a score of 51% on Rotten Tomatoes. Audiences, though, loved seeing The Stath stretch his comedic muscles while putting his action ones to work, with the movie achieving an impressive 82% on the Popcornmeter. While critics foundOperation Fortune: Ruse de Guerrelacking among modern action movies, while offering “just enough firepower for viewers seeking a few undemanding thrills,” audiences found the action outing “Funny and full of action,Operation Fortuneis an exciting enough spy thriller that should satisfy fans of Guy Ritchie and Jason Statham.”
Filmmaker Guy Ritchie has worked with Jason Statham multiple times, with the director giving the actor his big break way back in 1998’sLock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. The pair have reunited on the likes ofSnatch, Revolver,andWrath of Man, and while they don’t currently have anything else in the pipeline together (Operation Fortune’sfinal moments do set up a sequel), Ritchie will return to the world of action withthe Amazon sequelRoad House 2.

Statham, meanwhile, is all set to once again talk about bumblebees while punching people indirector Timo Tjahjanto’sThe Beekeeper 2.
