One Jason Statham Fan Has the Perfect Idea for ‘Spy 2’

Despite being one of the best movies in the respective repertoires of Statham, McCarthy, and Feig,Spystill has not had a sequel. While Feig has teased a follow-up in the past, even revealing that Statham would be front-and-center alongside McCarthy in a potentialSpy 2, nothing has yet come to pass. Feig said back in 2016:

“That’s another world that I don’t want to walk away from. It’s the first thing I did that I set up to be a possible franchise and Melissa is dying to do it. I have a story for it, and a funny idea that will kick it off that involves Statham. Susan Cooper is one of my favourite characters I’ve ever come up with, but Rick Ford is possibly the one I’ll take to the grave with me. Will he get any more self-aware in the sequel? No, god no. He’ll get less self-aware.”

“You’ve got a knife? I’ve got a spoon.”

However, while nothing is official, one fan of the movierevealed their idea forSpy 2earlier this year. Back in August, and during the height of the Olympics, X/Twitter user @AshDylanLit offered their thoughts on a follow-up, which would find McCarthy’s Susan Cooper and Statham’s Rick Ford going undercover as break dancing Olympians. Inspired by the hilarious, viral performance by Australian B-Girl Raygun at the breakdancing event, the idea forSpy 2would follow Melissa McCarthy and Jason Statham going “undercover as Olympics breakdancers from a made-up country.” It’s clearly the perfect set-up for a sequel. So perfect, in fact, that Melissa McCarthy herself even responded, saying, “Ummm YES PLEASE!!!!”
