Kaley Cuocowill star inBased on a True Story, a Peacock series from Craig Rosenberg,Deadlinereports. The comedy thriller is inspired by a real-life event and follows a realtor, a plumber and a former tennis star whose “lives unexpectedly collide, exposing America’s obsession with true crime, murder and the slow close toilet seat.” Cuoco has been cast as Ava Bartley, a married woman. Other plot details and cast information remain unknown.
UCP will serve as the studio, while Rosenberg will serve as showrunner, writer and executive producer. Jason Bateman and Michael Costigan of Aggregate Films will executive produce, with Roxie Rodriguez, also of Aggregate, serving as co-executive producer.Based on a True Storyreceived a straight-to-series order in April. At the time, UCP studio’s President Beatrice Springborn said in a statement:

“There are some true stories that are stranger than fiction as is the case for the events that inspire this show. It is a twisted, thrilling and incredibly funny series that combines the comic and suspense talents of the dream team of Craig Rosenberg, Jason Bateman, Michael Costigan and Roxie Rodriguez to create the perfect show for Peacock.”
Rosenberg most recently worked on Amazon’sThe Boysas a producer and writer.
Kaley Cuoco’s Career
Cuoco’s big break came in 2002, when she portrayed Bridget Hennessy on8 Simple Rules,starring John Ritter and Katey Sagal. Upon Ritter’s passing in 2003, David Spade joined the ABC sitcom’s cast. In 2005, she appeared onCharmedfor its final season. Beginning in 2007, she starred as Penny onThe Big Bang Theoryuntil the show’s completion in 2019.
Cuoco most recently starred on HBO Max’sFlight Attendantas Cassie Bowden. Her portrayal of Bowden, a flight attendant whose alcoholism spreads into her work and leads her to self-sabotaging behaviors, has earned the actress multiple award nominations, including two Emmys. The critically acclaimed show has aired for two seasons. As viewers anticipated news regarding a possible third season, the actress (who also serves as a producer on the series)hinted at the possibility there may not be a third season, stating that for her, “the plane has landed.”
Cuoco has also recently voiced Harley Quinn in the animated series and appeared inThe Man from Toronto, with Kevin Hart and Woody Harrelson. Her upcoming features includeMeet Cute, opposite Pete Davidson, and the thrillerRole Play. The actress is also scheduled to star as Doris Day in an upcoming limited series that she will also develop.
