The first clip from seminal director Martin Scorsese’s upcoming crime thriller,Killers of the Flower Moon, teases more of the powerful performances from Leonardo DiCaprio and Lily Gladstone. Performances that will anchor this grand Western epic. This latest footage teases the relationship between Leonardo DiCaprio’s character Ernest Burkhart and Lily Gladstone’s character Mollie Burkhart, who find themselves at the center of the Oklahoma murders in the Osage Nation during the 1920s. Murders that were committed after oil was discovered on tribal land.

Killers of the Flower Moonhas already been met with much applause from critics after debuting at the 76th Cannes Film Festival back in May. Conversations have quickly turned to the movie’s Oscar chances, with Lily Gladstone expectedto campaign for the Academy Awardfor Best Actress.

Directed by Martin Scorsese from a screenplay by Scorsese and Eric Roth,and based on the non-fiction bookKillers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBIby David Grann,Breaking Badstar and Academy Award nominee Jesse Plemons will leadKillers of the Flower Moonas old-style lawman Tom White, with Leonardo DiCaprio set to play a man named Ernest Burkhart. Hollywood icon Robert De Niro meanwhile will portray Burkhart’s uncle, the American cattleman and convicted murderer William Hale. The rest of the hugely impressive cast includes recent Oscar winner Brendan Fraser, Lily Gladstone, Tantoo Cardinal, Jack White, and John Lithgow.

Killers of the Flower Moon Has a Near-Perfect Score on Rotten Tomatoes
While wider audiences await the release ofKillers of the Flower Moon, the movie has been seen by a lucky few, debuting at the 76th Cannes Film Festival back in May. And the reactions have been overwhelmingly positive, with Killers of the Flower Moonnow sitting at a near-perfect scoreof 97% on the review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes. David Rooney of The Hollywood Reporter praisedKillers of the Flower Moonfor echoing modern era politics and earning its lengthy runtime saying, “The three-and-a-half-hour running time is fully justified in an escalating tragedy that never loosens its grip – a sordid illustration of historical erasure with echoes in today’s bitterly divisive political gamesmanship.”
Rolling Stone’s David Fear callsKillers of the Flower Moon“[A picture] brimming with reverence for a culture that survived a horrible trauma as it is filled with exhilarating flourishes, film history references, and explorations of the faultline between the sacred and profane.
