Fans of the iconic UPN/The CW seriesVeronica Marswho have been holding out hope for a revival series will be quite happy today, with Kristen Bell revealing that it will happen. Those who want the show to debut anytime soon, though won’t be quite as happy, with the actress stating in an impromptu interview with IndieWire and herVeronica Marsco-star Ryan Hansen, that everyone is willing to make it happen. Here’s what the actress had to say below about this potentialVeronica Mars revival.
“We are willing to put the effort in. I mean, if I have to do it asMurder She Wroteat 80, we’re going to do it. It’s going to happen.”
Ryan Hansen was promoting his new YouTube Red seriesRyan Hansen Solves Crimes on Televisionduring a Facebook Live chat, when he was asked about the possible revival series, which prompted the actor to call up Kristen Bell right then and there, to get an answer from her. Series creator Rob Thomas first brought it up in January. The series creator said that he was working on ideas for a six-episode web series, but he would need to find a window when the cast is available. Kristen Bell currently stars on the hit NBC sitcomThe Good Place, withThe Good Place Season 2airing on Thursday nights, with Rob Thomas also working on aLost Boys TV showfor The CW.
There have been no official deals made for this potential series, but it wouldn’t be the first time the cast has come together since the 2014Veronica Marsmovie. Kristen Bell and theVeronica Mars castreunited for the 2014 web seriesPlay It Again Dick, which featured Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars), Jason Dohring (Logan Echolls), Enrico Colantoni (Keith Mars), Percy Daggs III (Wallace Fennel), Daran Norris (Cliff McCormack), Francis Capra (Eli “Weevil” Navarro), Kyle Gallner (Cassidy “Beaver” Casablancas) and Christopher B. Duncan (Clarence Wiedman), all playing both their fictional characters and real-life versions of themselves. Kristen Bell also revealed it would have to be a miniseries since she couldn’t film a full season of that show andThe Good Placeat the same time, while confirming that they will not go the crowdfunding route again.
“(Rob Thomas and I) are sort of in constant contact about when we can do it again. There’s a lot of willingness and commitment to doing it again. you may’t do two television shows at the same time. So we’d have to do like a miniseries. Rob and I email about it every couple of months or so. And personally I think, and I think Rob probably agrees, is that a) we’ll never make the fans pay for it again and b) the format works better as an episodic [series].”
TheVeronica Mars movieset a Kickstarter record by becoming the fastest project ever to reach the $1 million milestone and $2 million milestone, earning $5.7 million when the campaign closed. The movie wasn’t quite as successful as the crowdfunding campaign was, taking in just $3.5 million worldwide, screening in only 347 theaters across the country.IndieWirecouldn’t get any further details about this potential miniseries, but hopefully we’ll find out more soon.
