Among the iconic roles of Oscar-nominated actorLiam Neeson(Schindler’s List&Taken), it seems very difficult for Qui-Gon, the Jedi master of theStar Warsuniverse, to return in the future, at least with Neeson. Liam Neeson andAnt-Man and the Wasp: Quantumaniastar Paul Rudd were guests on the ‘Watch What Happens Live!‘talk show, where he discussed his potential future withStar Wars.

Neeson responded to a question about whether he would return to the Star Wars universe and explained that this decision is related to the current state of the franchise. The increasing number of spinoffs after the success of Disney+ andThe Mandalorianseries is too much and diluting the franchise, Neeson said. Liam Neeson had a short cameo in theObi-Wan Kenobiseries, starring Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen.

‘‘No, I’m not. There’s so many spinoffs of Star Wars. It’s diluting it to me, and it’s taken away the mystery and the magic in a weird way. It was nice to do it a little bit with Ewan after 25 years, you know. I did a TV version and I appeared in the last episode, I had three lines to say… two lines! And that was cool. I loved doing it.’’

‘I Like the Big Screen’

Neeson, who starred in George Lucas’ hit prequel films of the early 2000s, appeared to have closed the door for a return to his iconic role, but he made a condition for a comeback in astatement last year. Apparently, the Irish actor is not a big fan of the small screen.

‘‘Oh, I think so, yeah, yeah, yeah, I think so, if it was a film. I’m a bit of a snob when it comes to TV, I must admit. I just like the big screen, you know? Qui-Gon, I can’t believe it’s 24 years since we made The Phantom Menace. I just cannot believe where the time has gone. It was a terrific experience.’’

Although the number of spin-off projects in the Star Wars franchise has increased with the live-action seriesThe Book of Boba Fett,Obi-Wan Kenobi, and upcomingAshoka,The Acolyte,Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, andStar Wars: LandoafterThe Mandalorian, created by Jon Favreau, this is not new to the fans. In the new trilogy era that started with 2015’sForce Awakens, spin-off moviesRogue One: A Star Wars StoryandSolowere made, and expanded theStar Warsuniverse. Additionally, many animation projects and video games depicting this expansive universe have been part of the Star Wars franchise for a long time.
