Throughout the course of Marvel’s history, we never imagined that Loki would wind up as a character who does good for others, let alone try to save an entire timeline. It is mainly because, every time he is on the screen, Loki tries to dominate the Earth and goes beyond morality by allying with Thanos and leading a Chitauri army to occupy the planet. In Disney+‘sLokiseries, though, he changed dramatically into one of the most lovable characters in the MCU.
Loki, released in June 2021, instantly became a success among viewers due to its immaculate take on the multiverse and beautiful visuals that kept us glued to the screen. Although there were only six episodes, it utilized every minute faultlessly and made certain to incorporate everything it intended from the start. However, no matter how flawless a series is, it still leaves behind a few questions that an audience may feel compelled to find answers to. So, here are a few burning questions fromLokiwe’d want to have answered in the upcoming season.

Ravonna Renslayer’s Free Will
Ravonna Renslayer was introduced inLokias a straightforward and loyal worker for the Time Variance Authority, who was captured by He Who Remains and later had her memories erased to turn her into an operative. Despite being acharacter who was conflictedmost of the time due to not understanding the origins of TVA, she left the very thing she served for so long at the end ofLoki’s first season.

When Mobius asks where she’s heading as she leaves through the Timedoor, she mentions that she is searching for free will. However, seeing as how she appeared inLokiseason 2 in the town of Timely, Wisconsin, where Victor Timely resides, it adds a whole new enigmatic element to her intentions because free will is meant to signify Ravonna finding a new life away from TVA’s control. So,Lokiseason 2 is taking her character in a compelling direction, and we’re all in to discover more about this mysterious character and her free will.
Who Is the Fourth Time-Keeper?
The Time-Keepers inLokihad an enormous influence as creators of Time Variance Authority during the earlier episodes, but eventually, we learned that they were just puppets created by He Who Remains to serve him in dealing with the ramifications in the Multiverse.
Although many fans believed there were only three Time-Keepers, a mysterious fourth one was revealed in the latter half of the first season when Loki and Sylvie stormed into the Citadel. There wasn’t any explanation about the Fourth Time-Keeper in the first season, so we can expect the second season to shed light on the mystery. However, Marvel production designerKasra Farahani spoke to Vanity Fairabout it. He said,

“I believe He Who Remains built it. The biggest influence was probably Xanadu fromCitizen Kane, and Hearst Castle as a result. This eccentric person rattling around this big Citadel. I pitched this idea that he’d retreated to the office at the time. The atrium, [where] you see the 13-foot-tall Sentinels of Time statues and the hall with the giant timepiece and the Time-Keeper statues…there would be a sense that he had retreated from these places and they’re in disrepair.
Is He Who Remains Really Dead?
He Who Remains is the main antagonist of Loki’s first season—if you can call him that, because he’s neither evil nor fair, as his whole intention was to preventhis other variants of Kangfrom conquering new worlds as doing so would result in a multiversal war. However, even when He Who Remains explained the consequences of his disappearance, no one expected Sylvie to kill him.

Still, many fans honestly wondered if He Who Remains is actually dead, even though there was a scene showcasing his dead body in the second season’s trailer. The main theory here is that both Kang the Conqueror and He Who Remains almost had a similar mission: to erase the existence of all other variants.
Although each trailed on a different path, with Kang deciding to start a multiversal war, and He Who Remains wanted to end one if it arose in the future, Kang apparently failed to defeat his other variants becausehe was exiled to the Quantum Realm.

Whereas, He Who Remains effectively ended a multiversal war by establishing a single Sacred Timeline. It’s no surprise that many are still uncertain how such a powerful presence in the entire multiverse could simply be killed by a Loki variant, and many are expecting that he will somehow make a comeback.
What Does the Expansion of Sacred Timeline Result in?
This is not much of a mystery because He Who Remains clearly describes what happens if Sylvie kills him—Sacred Timeline branches out into multiple timelines, resulting in a multiversal war and the creation of more dangerous versions of himself. Nonetheless, what exactly do these multiversal wars imply? And how would it affect the branching timelines formed through the destruction of one particular Sacred Timeline?
While there are a few simple answers, like each new timeline birthing a new variant of certain characters like Kang the Conqueror, there must be other consequences thatLoki’s first season hasn’t explored yet. Hopefully, it will provide us with a clear picture of the aftermath of Sacred Timeline’s destruction and how it further leads to more complex ramifications.
