After the box office success ofMad Max: Fury Road, which earned $153 million domestic and $374.7 million worldwide, many fans are curious about what directorGeorge Millerwill do next. Back in August, a rumor surfaced thatGeorge Millerwas being eyed to directMan of Steel 2for Warner Bros., since the studio is so eager to work with the director again afterMad Max: Fury Road. While that report was never confirmed nor denied,George Millerhimself said he was “in the mix” for that directorial gig. But now it isn’t happening.

“There’s been some of that in the mix, but I’d say that’s probably not true.”

Superman

A straight-up sequel to 2013’sMan of Steelhas never been officially confirmed by Warner Bros., with filmmakerZack Snyderrevealing thatBatman v Superman: Dawn of JusticeisMan of Steel 2, “in a way.” He did add that it would be “interesting” to see what another standaloneSupermanmovie would entail. The originalMan of Steelearned over $668 million at the box office, with starsHenry Cavill(Superman/Clark Kent),Amy Adams(Lois Lane),Diane Lane(Martha Kent) andLaurence Fishburne(Perry White) reprising their roles inBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

George Millerdid add in the same interview that he hopes his next movie is much smaller, without any special effects or stunts. The filmmaker is developing aMad Max: Fury Roadsequel, which has the working titleMad Max: The Wasteland, but it seems clear that he wants to tackle something much smaller in scale before returning to the violent world of Max Rockatansky. The filmmaker didn’t specify whether or not he had a smaller project lined up yet, but hopefully we’ll hear more about what he’s doing next very soon.
