After developing two successful shows set in theMarveluniverse, ABC andMarvelare taking a different approach, developing a new comedy series entitledDamage Control. WhileDamage Controlnever had a regular comic series, this group appeared in a number of different mini-series' starting in 1989. Here’s theTV show’s official description, viaDeadline.

“Marvel’sDamage Controlcenters on the overworked and underpaid clean up crew of the Marvel Universe. Their specialty is dealing with the aftermath of the unique fallout fromsuperheroconflicts, like returning lost ray guns to their rightful owners, rescheduling a wedding venue after it has been vaporized in a battle or even tracking down a missing prize African parrot that’s been turned to stone or goo. Sometimes the most important heroes are the ones behind the scenes.”

Ben Karlin, who has written forThe Daily ShowandModern Family, will write the pilot script forDamage Control. The writer will also serve as an executive producer alongside David Miner (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) andMarvel’s head of television,Jeph Loeb. Ben Karlin’s involvement in the show stems from his overall deal at ABC TV Studios.

What isn’t known at this time is if the show will cross over withMarvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. In thecomics, these characters would regularly show up after major battles, including the iconic Civil War, which will be depicted on the big screen next year inCaptain America: Civil War, although there are no plans to utilize this team in that movie. ABC also hasMarvel’s Agent Cartercoming back for a second season, but since that series is set in the 1950s, it seems unlikely theDamage Controlteam will interact with Peggy Carter.

ABC issued a putpilotcommitment forDamage Control, which means it is almost guaranteed a series order. A put pilot order means that the network will have to pay a significant penalty to Marvel if the pilot episode isn’t aired, and more often than not, put pilots are picked up to series. Are you looking forward to seeingDamage Controlon ABC sometime in the near future?
