“How you like them apples?” Most fans do, especially whenMatt Damonand Ben Affleck are doling them out in their creative collaborations. The Hollywood duo is arguably best known for their Oscar-winning work onGood Will Hunting(1997), and they are teaming up again for Netflix’sAnimals.

According toThe Hollywood Reporter, Affleck will direct the crime thriller, while Damon will star in the Netflix project. Damon and Affleck’s latest collaboration, which also operated under the titleThe Animals of Los Angeles and Be Gentlemen,could start shooting in as soon as March. Connor McIntyre is credited asAnimals’writer with revisions penned by Billy Ray. THR describes the plot as follows:

“The crime thriller concerns a mayoral candidate and his wife whose son is kidnapped. Surrounded by plenty of enemies, political and otherwise, the husband and wife have no choice but to get their hands dirty in order to save their son.”

Matt Damon andBen Affleck’sproduction company, Artists Equity, will produce Netflix’sAnimals. The two friends and colleagues have been collaborating together for the better part of 25 years. They first landed jobs together as extras for the “Moonlight” Graham scene at Fenway Park inthe father/son film,Field of Dreams(1989). Kevin Costner’s character kidnaps James Earl Jones, so he’ll join him at a baseball game in hopes of hearing the mysterious voice once more, and there are over 3,000 extras gracing the stands encompassing the Green Monster. Damon and Affleck are two of those 3,000 people.

In 1992, the two friends co-starred inSchool Ties,which also featured the talents of young actors Brendan Fraser, Chris O’Donnell, Anthony Rapp andYellowstone’sown Cole Hauser.Chasing Amycame next, and then the two friends followed up their Oscar-winning success inGood Will Huntingwith Kevin Smith’sDogma(1999). The pair also worked together inJay and Silent Bob Strike Back, The Last DuelandAir.

At the 1998 Academy Awards ceremony, Damon and Affleck won their first Oscars (Best Original Screenplay) for their unforgettable work onGood Will Hunting. Affleck later wonthe Best Picture Oscar forArgo. At the time of this writing, Damon and Affleck’s collaboration,Animals, does not have a projected release date on Netflix.
