It’s only been three and a half years since this franchise started with 2012’sThe Hunger Games, but it has already become a box office juggernaut, with the first three films earning over $2.3 billion worldwide. In just under two months, the story of Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and her rebellion against Panem will come to an end, in an explosive fashion.

With the nation of Panem in a full scale war, Katniss confrontsPresident Snow(Donald Sutherland) in the final showdown. Teamed with a group of her closest friends - including Gale (Liam Hemsworth), Finnick (Sam Claflin), and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) - Katniss goes off on a mission with the unit fromDistrict 13as they risk their lives to liberate the citizens of Panem, and stage an assassination attempt on President Snow who has become increasingly obsessed with destroying her. Francis Lawrence, who directedThe Hunger Games: Catching FireandThe Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1, is directing from a script byDanny Strong(Lee Daniels' the Butler) andPeter Craig(The Town). This highly-anticipated sequel brings an end to this franchise, based onSuzanne Collins' novels, but there has already been talk of Lioinsgate extending this lucrative saga in some way, afterMockingjay. The studio is reportedly developing prequel andsequelideas, but nothing has been officially announced yet.
