Actress and R&B singer Brandy Norwood says her ’90s comedy seriesMoeshais getting a reboot. From 1996 to 2001, Brandy starred on the classic sitcom which aired for six seasons on UPN. Recently, theMoeshastar spoke about the series with the discussion turning to a potential reboot, and Brandy revealed there’s already a revival in the planning stages. Making it clear plans are in place to resurrect the show, here’s what Brandy said when directly asked if she was interested in rebooting the series.

“Yeah! Absolutely. I’m here to solidify that we’re going to bringMoeshaback.”

Moeshawas created by Ralph Farquhar and the writing team of Sara V. Finney and Vida Spears. It starred Brandy as Moesha Denise Mitchell, a high school student living with her family in Los Angeles. The series also starred William Allen Young as Frank, Brandy’s widowed father and a Saturn car salesman, with Sheryl Lee Ralph also starring as the high school vice principal and Brandy’s new stepmother, Dee. Yvette Wilson, Shar Jackson, Lamont Bentley, and Countess Vaughn also had prominent roles as Brandy’s friends, with many notable guest stars including Bernie Mac, Jamie Foxx, Usher, Robin Givens, Billy Dee Williams, Kobe Bryant, and Mary J. Blige.

Sadly, aMoeshareboot would not be the same, as it would be missing some key cast members we’ve since lost. Lamont Bentley, who played Brandy’s boyfriend Hakeem Campbell on the show, passed away in 2005 after sustaining severe injuries in a brutal single-car traffic accident. Yvette Wilson, who played the owner of The Den and Brandy’s friend Andell Wilkerson, also died in 2012 after a hard-fought battle withcervical cancer. Because both characters were so important to the original series, the presence of Bentley and Wilson in any potential reboot will certainly be missed.

In 2017, theMoeshacast reunited for the first time in 16 years onThe Real, and the emotional moment may have contributed towards Brandy’s apparent desire to revisit the show. At the time, Brandy said she “absolutely” wanted to reboot the show, pointing out that the series ended on a cliffhanger. “Myles was kidnapped. We don’t know who was pregnant,” theMoeshastar explained. Even if the revival is nothing more than areunion showor limited series to properly close out the story, it sure would be nice to finally have the cliffhanger resolved.

While it’s exciting for some fans to think about revisitingMoesha, others may prefer to remember it as it was. One thing is for sure - with shows likeFull House,Will & Grace, andMad About You getting revived, along with the news of aFrasierreboot also in the works, it’s beginning to feel a lot like the 1990’s all over again. Let’s hope we find out more information about the planned project soon. The news of the plannedMoeshareboot comes to us from Fab TV on YouTube, and you may watch the footage below.
